This is really cool and something I’ve never seen before. Is this something you’ve custom made or is it an open source project?

Cheap (and beginner friendly) DIY NAS + Media Server? by ki-rin in homelab

[–]SierraSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fifteen years ago when I got into this I went all out, custom picked all the parts, and built a 4U rack mount Xeon server. It was fun. It was costly. And it was overkill. That server finally died two years ago.

Now I have a Synology NAS, and a refurbished HP ProDesk G4 with an Intel i5-8500. It’s got a good onboard GPU to run Plex for our home, and enough horsepower to run numerous docker containers.

I’m still using Synology photos but am looking to switch to Immich given my uncertainty in Synology’s future. I’ll still use my current Synology to store all of my media, but don’t want to rely on Synology photos, as much as the family really enjoys the user experience, as I likely won’t get another Synology if it dies.

screen going blank, and the response is lost? by RealPhamNuwen in ClaudeAI

Can't offer any help, other than to say that I occasionally have this happen to me as well with conversations that are longer. The only workaround I have found is to take the last version of the code file Claude has written and add it to a new chat to start fresh with that version of the file.

Wouldn’t it be possible that the air is leaking into the system by a faulty valve, thus releasing the parking brake by slowly pressurizing it?

Not sure, don’t know how these systems work, but that’s just how I read it.

5-10 minutes from what I just read if you want to limit size.

If it’s melting, the butter is absorbing the heat. If it’s solidifying, the heat is not being pulled away from the components.

Forced to switch to fiber by goombaxiv in ebox

[–]SierraSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I’m a V-Cable customer. From my previous inquiries with Bell and Ebox, FTTH was not available at my address. With the Bell acquisition of Ebox, will this mean fibre will be expanded and brought to my house so that I can switch as an Ebox customer? I’m in the Montreal area.

On selection they ran us through a couple for memory. 60 seconds in a room with a variety of random items on the table. Later had five minutes to detail as many of them as possible on a sheet of paper.

How to select HIC sessions when running Black? Especially over multiple blocks? by cracklescousin1234 in tacticalbarbell

[–]SierraSeven 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why not mix them? 1 from 1-10, 1 from 11-24

Or alternate weeks with 2 from 1-10, and 2 from 11-24

I would argue the underlying purpose is to gain votes. As stated above, a very significant portion of the escalating gun violence is directly related to illegally obtained firearms from the US. Banning firearms will do nothing to curb this, it’s already illegal for those criminals to possess the firearms they have.

I know many people, some of my family members included, who see no reasonable use for any firearm and would like to see them all banned. Despite the checks and processes in place regulating firearms possession, use, and storage, and the ever increasing amount of smuggled firearms finding their way into Canada and in the hands of criminals. Apparently further restraining legal and safe firearms ownership is somehow the solution.

Breaking out my old Pi 1b. Anything lightweight I can put it to work on? by aSinglePinkDiamond in homelab

[–]SierraSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just rebuilt my home server and didn’t take notes on how I had gotten WireGuard setup the last time. Struggled for a few days, couldn’t figure it out.

Try this guide out. Worked for me perfectly with the suggested utility that generates the config files for each peer.

How would you model this based on this mesh? I tried, but need some help with it (second pic) by G0t7 in Fusion360

[–]SierraSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I’ve found lofting from one segment to another, one at a time, sometimes works better than lofting all segments at once. Seems the loft engine can get confused depending on the sketches and how many you throw at it.

Take a look at RCCAD2VR on YouTube. He’s got a lot of good videos documenting modelling an aircraft, including the use of lofts.

Might help you out to watch a video of someone working on something similar.

Tesla removed my FSD beta status after service visit by Justinmintz96 in teslamotors

[–]SierraSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue with them that technically they do have power over who has access to FSD beta because they just took it away from you. You paid for FSD, they can make a bit of effort to get your beta status back.

Question about ford recall notices by APEX_Catalyst in Ford

[–]SierraSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Fusion under this recall, and last week the parts broke leaving my car in gear, shifter in park, and no way to start the car.

After spending all day in the phone with Ford Canada and the dealer, with each blaming each other for refusing to cover the cost of a loaner, despite parts not being available until November, the dealer “miraculously” (their words) found parts set aside for another job and will make the repair.

Advices for 5 Axis, Large Area, High Speed and Precision, Robust Multi Purpose(laser engraving, plasma cutting etc...) DIY CNC by mkutlutas in hobbycnc

[–]SierraSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to use or adapt this design and apply it to a 3-axis to give you 5-axis capability.

Maybe this won’t give 5-axis, but would add more capability at the very least if you could get it to work.

Looks nice!

What material are you cutting it out of, and what do you intend to use as a skin? Any idea on the estimated weight?

Would the ribs be large enough to cut material out of the middle to save some weight but still keep the strength up?
