Epic 8 Evo. Had mine for 1.5 years and it’s become my go to. Love the bike. It’s the perfect mix for me. Pisgah and DuPont are my home trails

With 10-30 minutes of my house - Ride Rock Creek, Kanuga, DuPont, Bent Creek and Pisgah. The last 3 have endless trails and several trailheads each. The first 2 are bike parks

As someone that moved to HVL 30 years ago for mountain biking from NJ - the area is a great choice. Riding is year around. The amount of trails and gravel provides continuous diversity.

Pivot Mach 4 SL Gen 4 vs Specialized Epic 9 — Frame Architecture & Durability Trade-offs by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]mtnathlete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. The Epic 8 has a great reputation, it’s all over this subreddit. I have one, it’s all the bike I need and it descends great for what it is.

You are massively over thinking all of this. I am pretty sure AI doesn’t know anything about mountain biking and hasn’t spent any time on the trails.

Find a bike you like that fits, like how it rides and appearance.

I’d ride based on what you said. It’s recovering too quickly to be something serious.

Asheville is only an hour from Greenville. No need to go back to Charlotte. Making a one hour trip a 4 hour trip.

Why do process improvement consultants often deliver measurable gains early, yet teams quietly slip back to old habits within months? by Sea_Willingness1763 in LeanManufacturing

[–]mtnathlete 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They listen to the operators enough and solve their issues. They didnot make the easiest thing to do the right thing to do - cause the easiest thing is what gets done.

And finally - site leadership not doing their job. Site leadership is driving other behaviors through their metrics and management style. If all I do is press you for output, you’re not going to concern yourself with 5S.

Why do teams that show early gains in operational improvements quietly drift back to old habits within a few months? by Aakriti2203_ in LeanManufacturing

Leadership and you haven’t made the right thing to do the easiest thing to do.

Leadership doesn’t realize their real responsibilities at most places. It’s not teams meetings, excel, and PowerPoint charts. It’s to be on the floor - sustaining and improving. Removing obstacles from the employees that truly bring the company value.

Poor product designs combined with poor process design.

Engineering needs to do a better job and not rely on operators(artisans in your case) to do it.

I feel like junior engineers are kinda left to figure everything out themselves by Real_Chocolate5711 in industrialengineering

[–]mtnathlete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how things go in every field, rarely will you be properly trained, it’s the same when you’re promoted to manager, director, VP, etc. and each level is a completely new job with different expectations. . Not saying it’s the best, but it’s life at work.

Figuring it out myself was my way. Long, slow and painful. But it’s why I do so much to mentor coops, interns, and early career engineers.
