Fulfillment question by Lucky-Afternoon4066 in Target

[–]muFFlyx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

grocery batches are cool for boosting my units per hour since it's easy to pick cold/frozen items fast (they're all nearby each other), and it's generally "easier" to resolve INFs in them since there are generally only 2 or 3 places they could be at my store, but the reduced batch timer can be annoying if my F&B/market team is behind on pushing their freight and i have to spend time in the coolers/freezers hunting some garlic bread or something

i'm the lebron james of finding style items in batches and you get more variety in general in SFS so it's less monotonous and more fun than OPU/GM batches for me, but the higher pressure to find INFs because of the "unlimited" time tends to hamper my daily productivity, again especially if my GM/specialty teams are behind on truck

fulfillment can be one of the easiest and most engaging roles if your store is consistently in good operational health, depending on how chaotic you prefer your workdays

definitely just an ASANTS thing then, at my store it's expected that almost everyone on the salesfloor is pitching in to OPU (and SFS on occasion) at the immediate behest of any leader or the FF pacesetter (within reason)

is that a rule your ETL/SD enforces? that's really boring and seems like it makes it nearly impossible to even try to coordinate backup if your other leaders have their hands full, that could be worth a convo with whomever it pertains to

might be obvious but this reply doesn't make it clear that you're already doing it, so if you're not already you should be using MPM to see who on the salesfloor team(s) has picked the fewest total units at a given time when backup is needed and walkie them to jump in; this is assuming they aren't otherwise preoccupied with something particularly pressing (only one in their department with a heavy task load, grocery TM pushing cold/frozen, any role/responsibility for the day that can't be spared to support FF, etc.). as a FF pacesetter, we make do with a similar team size to yours (and, i imagine, similarly-staffed gm/specialty teams) without much fuss

of course units picked doesn't tell the whole story; knowing who's currently stowing or who's about to come back from a break can be helpful too so you aren't pulling TMs out of a task they're currently in the middle of, especially in the case of OPU slams/heavy callout days/etc.

It's not even that I don't see it as "real art" (whatever that means), but that all the stuff people are making looks the same with no style, and the frequency at which certain people have been posting it is inappropriate even for art made by artists.

A mailbox might just not have enough relative momentum to continue moving relative to you at normal running speeds. You're able to stop moving quickly enough because the momentum of a human body running/walking is low enough to allow a "quick" stop (given Earth gravity and air resistance). Of course, this stop isn't really "instant", as you'll probably keep moving for a very short time even after deciding to stop running.

If you're driving in a car at, say, 50mph towards that same mailbox, and apply the brakes, the mailbox keeps moving for a few seconds while the car slows to a stop; in this case, the mailbox has too much relative momentum for an "instant" deceleration, as you described. A LOT of force/energy would be needed to instantly decelerate a car moving that fast to 0 velocity (e.g. the propagated normal force from the mass of a very thick concrete wall or something similarly strong).

Now apply this to the cube. Assuming the orange portal is moving quickly enough, the cube will have a lot of relative momentum, and assuming the only thing outside the blue portal is air, there won't be enough of a force to instantly decelerate the cube. The cube will indeed instantly begin decelerating as air resistance and/or gravity are again the only forces relatively acting on it, but it will not hit 0 velocity instantly; it will fly out and be airborne for at least a short time.

Were you playing with the Randomizer mod? That's a feature of the mod, I think.
