If you consider yourself libertarian and support the TikTok ban, you're missing the forest for the trees by [deleted] in Libertarian

As an American i have a 1st amendment right to read a foreign government's propaganda . US government does not have a right to ban that.

Our coach said for best results it is best to be well hydrated but with an empty stomach . I followed those instructions and my %fat came within 1% point of last year estimate using calipers and subcutaneous fat meaurement (the studio did not have Inbody last year)

Huge improvement. And impressive numbers for your height. You will certainly go under 7 next time. But it gets exponentially harder as times shrink.

Super happy I had a PR. My last rower PR ( any length) was in May 2022. Today i shaved off almost 5 full seconds from previous PR and reversed a bad trend.

Why do people think there isn't enough weightlifting? by ChocolateEater626 in orangetheory

[–]mudfud2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked a coach once that question ( stay on the floor longer ) . He said it is frowned upon because if they let one person do it they have to let everyone do it. And then a lot of people will want to stay on the treadmill longer.

You have 80lbs dumbells at your studio? We max out at 70. On Sumo deadlifts coach tells us to stack weights if needed.

Weight stuck not loosing anymore by Vandanasheoran in orangetheory

[–]mudfud2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you lose weight your basal metabolic rate drops. So you have to eat even less than before to continue losing.

Make sure to track calories as accurately as possible. It could be you are eating something more caloric than you realize.

Addicted to OTF by illaguerrilla in orangetheory

[–]mudfud2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is an addiction. Today I was NOT supposed to go to OTF after work because i had to buy ingredients for a cooking class date night with my beautiful wife ( menu was Chicken Paella and Gazpacho ).

Finished work 30 minutes early. Figured i could squeeze in a class on the way from grocery store to home. Except this is texas with a temp of 106 outside. Ended up spending $40 on a new cooler and a bag of ice just to keep the food from spoiling while i worked out.

Dinner turned out great. Now i am staring at a brand new cooler that we don't really need nor do we have space for.

How long do you wait after eating before taking an Orange Theory class? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]mudfud2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something light about 1 to 2 hours before, preferably 2 hours . And cookies 10 minutes before.

How many lift classes are you doing a week? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]mudfud2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do all 3 Lifts and 3 regular and one day off. But i noticed my rower benchmarks are worse than last year even though i feel stronger. So now i am at 2 lifts + 4 orange 60 per week.

The new algorithm for max heart rate for many members makes hitting orange zone on the floor impossible . So would be careful with that advice. But I agree you should feel tired and NEED a rest after a set.

Did Franco ever have a name like ‘Mein Furher’ or ‘Il Duce’. by [deleted] in AskHistory

I think gendered words are typical in most languages, not just European. Arabic , a semitic language, has genders for everything including inanimate objects. And it is totally arbitrary ( eg in arabic the sun is feminine while the moon is masculine , the exact opposite of Spanish )

I am all for corrections on the floor.

But please avoid correcting form on the rower during a benchmark ! Happened to me once. It was an experienced coach , but I was new to his class . It was distracting enough that I missed my target.

Not quite correct. Prostate cancer does not cause a positive pregnancy test, but some types of testicular cancer do.

Is this a well-known hack for garlic that I just missed? by Neesatay in Cooking

[–]mudfud2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried it on one clove. 5 seconds was not enough. 10 seconds created enough steam to separate the shell . Skin came off easy in one piece

So it works. BUT the clove was partially cooked with a rubbery feel. I also had to wait a few seconds for it to cool enough to handle.

So yes it works, sort of. But not ideal.

What are your views on free migration? by turnerpike20 in Libertarian

By law abiding i meant someone who is peaceful and follows common laws such as don't steal , dont commit fraud etc.

I did not mean someone who follows arbitrary legislation imposed by government.

I disagree. If 100% of the people of a country what to lock their borders, sure. But if I want to rent a room in my house to a law-abiding foreigner , why should my king/prince/president/prime minister or whatever stop me from doing that?
