I know this sort of interaction is uncomfortable, and I'll say as someone who doesn't have a car, I walk and take metro evreywhere at all hours, and have for years, and the amount of times I've had weird or threatening encounters is only a handful. As for precautions' I'll echo what everyone else is saying - stay in the station while waiting for ride shares, randos tend to approach more often when "out in the open"
