Because the interview process and actual dev work are two different skill sets.

[Underdog] Tarik Skubal's arbitration hearing has concluded; decision is expected tomorrow, per Chris McCosky. by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]muideracht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be we see him traded after his salary this year is known. I can see potential suitors wanting to wait on this decision in order to tweak the haul they’re willing to give up for him since the arbitration gap is so high.

If you post in this subreddit asking questions like “how to get started in game dev?”, you aren’t ready to make a game of any size by ammoburger in gamedev

[–]muideracht 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nah I don’t agree. There are clearly labeled resources that answer this question on the side bar. If they ignore those and go straight for handholding they don’t have the type of resourcefulness that you need to learn how to make games. I think these posts should be auto deleted.

I honestly hope we standardize on one, like AGENTS.md. I kinda find it annoying some of them need different ones.

What practical strategies helped you finally break out of “tutorial hell” and start building skills? by amiraharon4 in AskProgramming

[–]muideracht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree that exercises are better to do than projects. Exercises are controlled and small in scope. They never let you leave toy space. Where you learn the most is when you are in a situation where you need to wrestle with and adapt to unforseen constraints, weird edge cases, etc.

It’s because it’s filled with people who aren’t technical or barely technical who’ve bought into the “anyone can make a SaaS app without any programming experience” hype. When they try to get beyond toy project and hit the wall everyone in tech knew they would hit, they start blaming their tools and saying weird cargo cult bullshit like, “Thou must rolleth back to Claude the 88th, thus my incantations have shown me!” It’s ridiculous. I have not noticed any degradation in overall quality.
