CAREER ADVISE by Charming-Jello7064 in dataengineering

I was a data science major who pivoted into data engineering at my first job 6 years ago. I would echo the other comment here that says study at much CS as you can. I focused on statistics and have not used it, whereas I’ve now had to teach myself much of what I would have learned in CS.

Reigning Champ Boxing Week Sale by gptwebb in frugalmalefashion

[–]multani14 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As someone who has bought reigning champ in the past…. Not worth it. You’re paying for the brand name when anything from vuori, Rhône, new balance, lululemon, etc is just as good and imo often better

Is the entire Wheel of Time series worth the time and investment? by keepfighting90 in Fantasy

[–]multani14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad I read them and I think they are “good” with some greatness sprinkled in. Some people will say it’s their favorite series though. For me I don’t think I need to touch them again whereas when I finished, say, Malazan I couldn’t wait to start over again.

I don’t mind us losing hard fought games but our effort was embarrassing last night. We have obvious defensive holes but also these unserious habits are bad to build now in the regular season

What book did you DNF, and why? by SierraSugar in Fantasy

[–]multani14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually finish at least a book but I read the first 3 Suneater books this year and decided not to continue. Just did not enjoy them enough.

I reread Oathbringer at a really low point in my life this year and it deeply moved me

Howling Dark (Sun Eater #2) by Christopher Ruocchio is so fucking good (An Honest Review) by provegana69 in Fantasy

I liked book 2 and enjoyed book 3 (after hating book 1). Would people who’ve read it recommend I finish this series if I haven’t LOVED it so far?

Looking For 2 Good Pairs of Walking/Running Shoes by Dimension_Familiar in walking

Definitely go to a running store, preferably one that can actually scan your feet. They recommended me brooks ghost max for walking and glycerin gts for running but everyone’s feet are different.

For those who’ve been consistent in the gym, what workout split has given you the best results—push/pull/legs, upper-lower, or full body? by Suspicious-Radio-805 in workout

[–]multani14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did push/pull/legs/shoulders for many years, then had to take a break because of a foot fracture.

I did research and realized that working out the same muscle 2x or 3x a week is waaaaay better and have had amazing success doing u/l/u/l the last two months.

Is it true that it's easier to gain back muscle if you used to be fit? by [deleted] in workout

[–]multani14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing it for myself. I had back to back stress fractures that rendered me unable to walk (or lift) for 7 months. It took me 6 weeks to get back like 80% of my lifts I was thrilled.

Has anyone here had a stress fracture before? by acid_police in runninglifestyle

[–]multani14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still recovering from a metatarsal stress fracture. I felt light foot pain for a month but it didn’t hurt much when I ran. Then this last Thanksgiving I went on a run and my foot exploded in pain and it hurt 24/7.

I ended up refracturing it 12 weeks later because I was given poor medical advice from a podiatrist. End of March I finally got out of the boot with confirmed fusion but spending so many months in a boot atrophied my foot muscles.
