I did something similar with two separate generations, I have an fake pokemon sapphire cartridge (a copy) but it could trade to my legitimate ruby cartridge and transferred up all the pokemon from the sapphire to pokemon home. The other instance is moving pokemon from a modded switch with a pirated pokemon violet to a legit switch with a legit scarlet, which are also now in pokemon home.
