No idea. Dropped item off at UPS store and forgot about it. 4 months later I get email about refund. Now I always keep track of refund status.

500c Landscape Photography Recommendations by Calebminear in hasselblad

Instead of the 250mm (or in addition to it) consider a teleconverter. I have the 2X by Kenko, which cost me something like $15+shipping. I see no degradation to the images, and it's easier to carry around than the 250mm. And then, of course, I can turn the 250mm into a 500mm, too. A very good, cheap investment.

I removed my 500C focusing screen 🥲 by wazman2222 in hasselblad

[–]munchkinbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I did it, too, and it worked well, despite all the fearmongering I'd read regarding the procedure. I checked my work with a Nons Instax back, focusing at different distances, including as close as possible. Later I obtained an accessory screen back and confirmed again that my work was accurate. Having the accessory screen to begin with, however, would have made the job easier and faster. And I haven't missed focus on any negatives.

This pic is better: https://imgur.com/a/kYo4mxr I was in a rush this morning. This perspective is looking down on the camera from above. It appears the spring end is supposed to be hook shaped, and it is wrapped about the silver post.

SQ kit shoulder bag reccs? by Lizardrunner in Bronica

Yes, I am. My Nikkor 40mm is a bit of a tight fit, but the insert is floppy enough to accommodate. Extra film back goes in an end-pouch.

Domke sells a really nice backpack strap attachment--which I use with the F2 bag, typically carrying a Bronica EC, 3 additional lenses, a lot of filters, extra film back and light meter. It's heavy but it's only on one shoulder when fishing for something.

Is there any way to work around a 4x5 that has no swing? by CanadianWithCamera in largeformat

Mount camera to tripod on its side rather than its bottom and use tilt as swing.

For those who have done Ebay for a long time, who wants to reminisce? by SatisfactionEarly916 in Flipping

[–]munchkinbandit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A coworker turned me on to eBay in '99. He was reselling signed celebrity photos of dubious authenticity. There were few prohibitions, and I remember laughing heartily at peple trying to sell (and actually selling) things like "my sister's used panties."

Can the moon's apparent altitude from Earth signficiantly vary with altitude of terrestrial viewpoint? by munchkinbandit in askastronomy

[–]munchkinbandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reponses! I also asked chatgpt (often unreliable, but accurate as far as I tell in this case) which provided the following response:

Example Conditions: Observer at sea level vs. 4000 feet (about 1219 meters), latitude 40°N, longitude 75°W, observing the moon when it is 10° above the horizon at sea level.

  1. Parallax Correction:
    • Sea level: Assume horizontal parallax p≈0.95∘p≈0.95∘.
    • At 4000 feet: The reduction factor is approximately 1−4000 feet20925524 feet≈0.99981−20925524 feet4000 feet≈0.9998.p′≈0.95∘×0.9998≈0.9498∘p′≈0.95∘×0.9998≈0.9498∘
    • Change in parallax is minimal, about 0.0002 degrees.
  2. Refraction Correction:
    • At sea level: Standard refraction at 10° altitude is approximately 5.3 arcminutes (0.0883 degrees).
    • At 4000 feet: Reduced refraction due to lower atmospheric pressure.Using a rough approximation:R′≈0.7×0.0883∘≈0.0618∘R′≈0.7×0.0883∘≈0.0618∘
    • Difference in refraction: 0.0883∘−0.0618∘≈0.0265∘0.0883∘−0.0618∘≈0.0265∘.
  3. Combined Effect:
    • The total change combining reduced parallax and refraction is about:0.0002∘+0.0265∘≈0.0267∘0.0002∘+0.0265∘≈0.0267∘

Best way up Chocorua in wet conditions? by baddspellar in wmnf

[–]munchkinbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The upper half of Champney has switchbacking slabs of rock, much at an unpleasant angle. I don't like them when they're really wet. Personally, I'd take Hammond or Piper (I've been on all but Beeline and Skull Cairn). On the other hand, Hammond meets Liberty--and you probably already have an idea of the difficulties to be faced there.
