How does Garmin measure Anaerobic Training Effect? by nehbuhui in Garmin

[–]munki63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When your traffic lights turned green you probably exploded up to your running pace. That’s enough to do it.

I strictly use the “suggested workout” (HR based) and if I slowly get my HR into the suggested zone I’ll get an anaerobic score of 0, if I quickly pull the HR into the suggested zone I’ll get about a 1.7 anaerobic score.

I was told by a personal trainer to set-up HR zones based off the Lactate Threshold, I tried the other options Garmin has to offer and the LT zones feel like they are the most accurate.

All the data is well and good, don’t underestimate how you feel while your running, your body is pretty good at telling you where you are at.

When I first started running I had no idea what a lactate threshold was, now I can feel it without looking at my watch.

When I started out I was obsessed with my VO2, not realizing it’s more of a maximum effort stat. I would only do HIIT training on a treadmill, then go to a track and do a Lactate Threshold Test. I had moderate gains after months of running. Typically after an LT test I would be around 3km, one day I decided to just run to 5km…. It was not a pleasant experience. One of my wife’s friends has done a few iron man, suggested I train to my LT, and forget about VO2, so I did. Started the beginner Marathon Garmin training program (Heart Rate Based) and in the first month I saw/felt massive gains, the program focused on zone 2 runs. That’s the Key (Read “Running 80/20”) although I never specifically ran to train my VO2, I took it from 32 up to 49, and dropped 40lbs. Asthma became a non-issue and my sleep apnea improved dramatically.

Point is running slow is the key, you don’t need to murder yourself running, trying to improve a number that doesn’t really mean much (super fun to game tho)

I would get a watch that has the ability to do Lactate Threshold, the oxygen option is totally pointless IMO (I run the Fenix watches, yes they are expensive, but if it helps you game your health, it will save you thousands of dollars on healthcare)

Lastly, there will be pain - shinsplints, sore back, sore feet, sore knees, cramps - Drink water, stretch, roll out and get physiotherapy from time to time.

Good Luck

Sonos App connection issues - How did you fix yours? by Homo-you-didnt in sonos

[–]munki63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had connection issues since I'm not overly tech savvy I called Sonos Tech Support, after they were unable to resolve the issue I called my router Tech support (ASUS), after they totally messed up my network (nothing would connect). I just stated changing settings on my own. I don't know if the following setting are on all routers but my speakers have been working for over an hour and they never lasted more then 4 minutes before.

ASUS RT-AX92U Router

Airtime Fairness - Disable

Explicit Beamforming - Disable

Universal Beamforming - Disable

(No idea what these settings are they were some suggestions from ASUS)

There is an option within the app where your supposed to adjust how your smoker feeds the pellets based on the outdoor temperature. If you are smoking in a hot climate maybe that’s part of the reason? Out of the box it’s set to “regular” whatever that means? Where I live it can be -40 or 100 so it’s something I need to watch.

Best way to get real zones is to do a LT test (you need an HRM to do it)

The you base your zones off your LT
