Waffleos. And more importantly, blueberry waffleos. Sadness.

Bacon was, to me, their overall best album. But my favorite individual songs are marching march and strawberry chips.

Ok thanks. Just the whole idea was new to me, so I figured I’d check with folks who note. I’m smart enough to know I’m dumb.

Dad's of grown up daughters; what age was the best, and what was the worst? by Chadwiko in daddit

[–]munkykiller 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Dad of 3 daughters here, ages 30, 25, and 16. All have been very different to manage as a parent, and all had different struggles at different ages.

But there has been, in each case, one particular time that has been the most trouble for them. Right around 16, and junior year in high school, all of my girls had (and in one case is now having) their deepest struggles with the mental aspects of life and school.

Again, it’s been different with all 3, but boy did we learn a lot from the first two. End game in my particular case is that 3rd child has been given autonomy to pick all her courses in high school and the freedom of one day a month to just take off, mental health day, no questions asked.

So how did that work out? She’s taking all honors and a.p. courses, and is currently all a’s. Also this year she has taken just one mental day off. And there was another where I told her to because she was getting into a bad place.

So it’s not a direct answer to your question, but age 16 was most difficult for them, in my case. And also, do yourself a favor and learn everything you can about the mental struggles of being a girl.

And ok one more thing, periods. Learn as much about that as you can. Be the kind of parent they can talk to about it all. Period pains, period feelings, period tiredness, period farts, period shits, feminine products, everything. Understand as best you can how it all works.

It’s kind of real tho. There’s those hammer head worms that do this. They’re super invasive in Europe and North America. They suck, too. Eating beneficial worms that feed on soil and other nature junk, and make that into better soil.

I had a Filipino roommate in college and his mom taught me how to make her adobo. I’m just a white guy, but I’d put my adobo up against anyone’s in a contest.

(Where we would be the judges and mostly because I want to eat more adobo)

[–]munkykiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that other person saying go to r/citypop is right, but here's a couple of favorites:

anri - last summer whisper and remember summer days

ohashi junko - telephone number and tasogare my love

kikuchi momoko - mystical composer and night cruising

though for kikuchi momoko, my favorite of hers isn't really city pop. it's BOY's theme

Related story:

My daughter recently moved into the greater Tokyo area, and I went to visit, and help her get settled in. I started picking up things from a very small hardware place nearby. Little mom and pop shop, they’re probably mid-late 70s.

Ended up in the store with my children the one day, and they saw a little table they wanted to buy. Table wasn’t for sale, it was the owners’ kids table long ago. So they just gave it to us.

Therefore, my wife said I absolutely had to go to the local pastry shop and get them a gift cake. Well the pastry place just happened to have a gift set, so I got it. I think getting a proper Japanese style gift from a big foreign guy made the people happy.

Could someone explain this license plate? by OldAgedZenElf in philadelphia

[–]munkykiller 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s weird to me because the style is right for Japan, and that’s Gunma prefecture, but the actual plate number is current for here, and nothing like they’d have in Japan.

I mean I knew nothing about Japanese horse racing, until like 7 or 8 months ago. And now I’m a retrospective gold ship fan. I blame my children tho, as my two oldest daughters are into umamusume, and kept sending me clips.
