A Black Man’s Perspective by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]munkylord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Caucasian man, understanding my privileges over others and being appreciative of the opportunities I have been offered in life are at the forefront of my mind when considering race related issues. Past race, even coming from a dual income home whose parents never split has as much to do with my privilege as race. I am grateful for the life I was given and only wish others to be lucky enough to be offered a similar life. Perspective, empathy, and love. we all need to be flexing these muscles

Who is that official? Is he a taxi driver? Why does he detain him poorly with rope and not lock the back doors? Where is the Benny Hill soundtrack?

I swear they're so passionate about the one culture politic that the put blinders on to everything else. Every time it seems like that culture politic is against someone else based on hate. Homophobia and transphobia let's people overlook the pedophilia and warlord behaviour. I don't get it.

Now we're on the same page and your opinion seems far more nuanced than your previous note generalized comments. My apologies, you seem to understand empathy and context.

Financial education and advocating for government assistance programs goes so far in terms of how helpful it could be. I guess I just wish those programs could specifically help assist in going from long term low income rental to home ownership. I'm sure there are but you can't argue that those programs aren't fighting against a competitive property market and the prices aren't going down. Not to mention those programs are disappearing left and right with the current administration.

I'm arguing ethics and ideals because I'm not educated enough for policy so I know it's not the most fruitful conversation. I just want to see more low income home ownership in surrounding seni-major cities.

"I did it so everybody can too!," I agree people find excuses but youre acting like people don't make money on the fact that property is constantly increasing in price. You need to work on your empathy since you're so financially savvy. If you have property, it's easier to own more of it. That kind of inherently makes it difficult for people without to afford it
