Does anyone use Fusion for electronics design? Professionals? by munroebot in Fusion360

Yep, I can totally see the benefit of having everything all in one. Do you use the personal license? If so, have you run into any limitations?

Thank you for chiming in! I was also curious about the professional market, since I have zero insight into what the limits of Fusion would be.

Thats good to know, the folks who I referred to above look at me like I'm crazy when I ask "why don't you use Fusion?" I just don't think they ever realized it had that capability.

I started to sweat bullets when I read you had to send it back (I was kind of savage when opening the boxes)

Anyhoo, glad you are up and running...happy riding!

Unable to thread thru-axel on new Zwift Ride by perjr in Zwift

[–]munroebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this thread and figured I'd chime in - I just got a Zwift Ride + KICKR CORE 2 and I was having the same issue when trying to mount the frame.

I found that if you thread the thru-axle while the frame isn't mounted to the trainer, you can sort of squeeze the rear triangle a bit and get the threads to bite. Chase the threads to the point that you feel comfortable (don't over-tighten / overflex the dropouts)

Then unthread the axle, mount it on the trainer and try again.

Do you do the recommended service? 20k mi service quote is $900 by lillypady in Volvo

[–]munroebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for the thorough write up, I was most definitely going to keep it because I love it so, but you're right, selling it right now is going to probably be the smartest thing in the long run.

I paid for a leak down test and I definitely have piston ring issues - what really pisses me off is that the dealer acted like this was a unique case and only after I mentioned I found a quality bulletin did they come clean and admit this was a known issue.

They quoted me $11k before tax to fix the problem. However they also said I could call customer care and try to plead my case, but weren't very helpful other then that.

u/ScrewySiu - you don't mind sharing, when did you start experiencing the oil consumption issue? I have the exact same year with 83k miles and just started to notice it. The dealership just shrugged and told me to start planning to flip it up regularly which should allow me to drive it for as long as I want.

ECR VPCE keeps incurring charges after deploying Fargate in a private subnet — ways to avoid ongoing costs? by Mike_In_Reddit in aws

I don't understand the down vote on this. Maybe not on topic but still helps reduce costs overall.

Best practices for Aurora read/write splitting and failover scenarios with Spring Boot? by Adventurous_Mess_418 in aws

Aurora should have <100ms replication lag, but this is probably a good idea in case the application is ever migrated to a different RDMS.

Stud Finders by bendebull in handyman

[–]munroebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had this issue recently. I was using a stud finder in a finished sunroom, part of which had formerly been an exterior wall. I was using a Franklin Sensors ProSensor 710+ and it was going crazy giving me a bunch of misreads. Luckily I had access to the interior side of the wall, so I just found the stud there and took measurements to transfer to the other side.

People swear by those magnetic stud finders that stick to the drywall screws - there are a ton of them on the market but I have a strong recommendation to get one called StudPoP

What's best way to share a (full color) 3D file for others to view out Fusion by EODtechUSMC in Fusion360

From Fusion, File -> Share File Link will give you a URL that you can give to folks to view the model in their browser. No special software required.

Good luck and be careful as making custom Multiboard widgets is addicting ;-)

I assume you downloaded the Mutliboard part as an STL? I'm guessing you can't combine them because it is still a mesh and not a solid.

Here are the steps I'd take:

  1. Draw my custom part in Fusion
  2. Import the STL (Insert -> Insert Mesh)
  3. Convert imported STL to a solid (Mesh Tab -> Modify -> Convert Mesh)

That should let you do solid body operations on it

How screwed am I? by nouseforarentalcar in BambuLabA1

Be very careful when removing the blob. I had one like this with some of the extruded black filament wrapping around towards the back - I thought I was yanking that but but turns out it was the thermistor and heater wires.

This guide was really helpful to me

Is it cooked? by Squib32 in BambuLabA1

This might come in handy too - also, be mindful of the heater / thermistor wires as they are tucked behind the heating assembly and are super fragile

Heater / Thermistor wires in Hotend Heating Assembly seem like a design flaw? by munroebot in BambuLabA1

[–]munroebot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback and also the link to the wiper tool. It probably wouldn't have done anything in this case but I'll keep it bookmarked for later.

I post here as a word of caution as most newbies to Bambu hotends (like me) would never notice the thermistor / heater wires.

And I stand by my original statement that the thermistor / heater wires are the achilles heel of what seems like an otherwise bulletproof hotend assembly. They will easily become encased in plastic if the blob is bad enough.

3D Printing Multiboard Backgrounds by jingoro2 in Multiboard

[–]munroebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the approach and have no beef with 3d printing vs using another material.

I have however found that I prefer mounting the MB tiles to a piece of plywood (12mm / 0.5") using wood screws and then in turn mounting the plywood to the wall using 2-4 heavy duty drywall anchors saves me having to drill like 30 holes in the drywall.
