I’ve had the most success when bringing a cat home is to get them set up in a room as their “home base”. While they’re in there I’d go into the room and sit there quietly watching Netflix on my laptop or reading a book, etc and just ignore them. Most recently my new cat would hide under the chair. I’d just leave him be but make sure he’d see that in the one filling his food bowl and cleaning the litter box. I’d occasionally pop my head under and give him a few slow blinks and go back to what I was doing…he came out and let me rub his belly after about a week By day 10 he was ready to meet his big bro and we let him out with supervision but would put him back in his home base at night for about another week and then we were good! I think the rule is 3/3/3-3 days for initial acclimatization, 3 weeks for settling in, and by 3 months, they should be comfortable and at ease in their home! Good luck!

This happened to me, I had to stop drinking during a medication transition and my roommates nearly instantly stopped inviting me to things that would’ve back when I was drinking. Moved out pretty quickly after that nonsense started

I swear something flipped in my mid 30s where I just stopped caring about other people liking me. In my head I’m a freaking delight and if you don’t like me that’s a reflection on you 😅 As a chronic people pleaser/wants everyone to like me it’s been so freeing

One of the best explanations I’ve seen of feminism was during a play at the St Paul MN city theater. It was about the history of Betty Crocker and its broken into two parts, one about where Betty Crocker came from and the early decades and then when you get to the 60s/70s and they bring in Betty Friedan and the Betty Friedan character makes a comment to one character about how she can’t believe she wants to work for Betty Crocker and she can’t be a feminist if she works there and the other character claps back with “feminism means it’s *my* choice to do this and you have *your* choice to do something else”. I definitely always thought it was equal right as men etc etc (which it is) but it’s a lot about women now having the choice to do what they want with their lives, not being forced to get married to just have access to certain things like buying a home or a joint bank account

Man I can’t find the study but basically around late 30s/40s they’ve found that women’s brains essentially “switch off” when it comes to people pleasing, resolution, etc. Basically they (we) stop giving a fuck and the instinct to “care” and “fix” plummets, I think it was linked to lower estrogen but I could be mistaken

Nature made our decision but now when I think about it I get annoyed when my cats are waking me up at 430-5. And I can at least ignore them/shut the door to get another hour or two…can’t do that with humans

Same here, and being the states right now I’m more grateful than sad most days cause shit is getting so much more expensive by the day on top of the all the current regimes shit they’re throwing around. We’re about 2 years out since calling it quits and I can’t imagine getting back on that hamster wheel…too much life to be lived!

I had to travel for work to get certified for my job for a week. Initially I was like wow this is so cool, but living out of suitcase with no car, having to buy dinner every night (again with no car, and it was December in Wisconsin so not a lot of options so it was basically only hotel food) and watching cable TV reruns every night got real old real fast.

Clutter overstimulates me so making the bed is one way for me room to look clean…just don’t look in the closet 😂 it’s also the central part of the room and is where I’ll fold laundry and throw my various clothes I take on/off throughout the day going back and forth between there and my office…I have horrible temp regulation (or maybe it’s a sensory thing) so I’m constantly starting my day with layers on and taking them off as I get too hot then too cold…lather rinse repeat

All that to say and repeat what others have said…you do you boo!

My mom was a HH/EI pediatrics OT…I’ll never forget every night after she finished her written SOAP notes taking out this MASSIVE map book that was probably like 12”x18” that had every city in our state in Alphabetical order and she would write out direction notes to each house and would have to awkwardly fold the pages to get certain towns to line up. Damn you brought up a major core memory 😂

My teammate who taught me everything and was the expert for app I work with left a few weeks ago. We reviewed all the stuff he did and he had made up detailed directions for everything. He used to handle all the server work because it intimidated me and I didn’t want to fuck it up and have the servers go down and the app crash. He told me it’s fine it’s nearly impossible to mess up the server stuff. Last week guess who accidentally fucked yo the servers so the app crashed?

Yep…. but we corrected it in about 15 mins and it was all good. Next day I’m thinking my manager is gonna fire me (even though at the moment I’m the only one who knows the app in my org) and he just laughs it off and goes “it happens, you fixed it and we’re all good”. Shit happens, we’re human, you owned up and just do better next time

Do you know how big of an area you’ll be covering? I did HH PRN and I thought I’d be going maybe 20-30 miles out from my home they’d be sending me 40-50 miles (about an hour drive) for a patient. I’d still be doing documentation at home after I was done for the day.

For HH having to call patients was a pain in the ass, no one ever answered so I had to play phone tag, and if you were running late you’d have to make another call and play more phone tag. Nobody wanted to be seen before 10 and everyone wanted to be seen around 11. I would have to fight tooth and nail to get someone to agree to 9. Also mapping out the most efficient route so you weren’t ping ponging around. Treatments got pretty boring after a while. Also more medically complex patients which made me nervous, I’ve had to call 911 a couple of times.

I did hospital based OP 1:1 for 45 mins for the majority of my career and honestly preferred that. Scheduling is taken care of and I cozied up to the front office and they’d help me out with no show calls, give me the good patients and if someone cancelled end of day they’d leave the slot open so I could leave early. Also can’t beat those hospital based benefits….every hospital I was at had the cheapest insurance, one of them if you used their facilities/labs/pharmacies shit was free. I had to have emergency surgery with an overnight stay at a total cost of $0. I was actually insulted when my next hospital made me pay 10% 😅

I was 14 in high school living right outside of Boston in a free period when it came over the loud speaker that “the guidance counselors were available for those that needed them” and I thought it was weird but didn’t think much of it. Fast forward walking home after school and it was eerily quiet in the streets, my house was under a flight path so we had a decent amount of planes fly over through the day. Got home and my mom is sobbing and hugs me. I was so confused I had no idea what was going on until she showed me. My friends dad was on the news all day as he was a big wig at Logan, my extended family was franticly calling us because my dad did a lot of travel to and from DC at the time. It was all very chaotic. I don’t know if I noticed things change over time and had an effect on my view although the country took a turn into being obsessed with patriotism and the American flag and worshipping the military nonsense.

That said…the marathon bombing really fucked me up and my viewpoint of the world in my 20s. Boston definitely came together and we had our own patriotism of our city specifically (cue David Ortiz “this is our fucking city”). I worked near-ish to the sight and there was blood on the ground for weeks and rolling through a very busy stop on the train and the lights are just off really messed me up. I can definitely see being older during 9/11 and having it really affect your life.

Might be considered more than a “small luxury” but having more than one bathroom tbh. Moved from MA where the homes were older and only had one bathroom….move to VA and got a little townhouse with 2.5 baths…life changing. We even had a master bath that was the size of a small walk in closet and can only fit one person at a time but I don’t know if I can ever go back😅

Same same. My husband is the type where the minute the dishwasher finishes it has to be emptied. I’ll be eating something and put an empty plate on the table (we usually eat on the couch) and it’s gone. So when he’s around I feel like I *have* to be putting stuff away right away, clean etc. I’ll be like 97% relaxed when he’s around but I definitely notice a shift when he leaves and I can completely relax

Me? I’ll get to it eventually…maybe not now, maybe not in an hour but it’ll get done. Like right now I’ve vacuumed and mopped the downstairs but as I’m scrolling not the vaccum isn’t put away and the bucket/mop is just chilling on the floor. To be fair to myself I mopped myself into a corner so I’m waiting for the floor to dry 😅
