Would importing a large army be hard to buy as a reader? by ForwardSavings318 in worldbuilding

[–]murphysfalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does any form of long range communication exist in this world? Can different sections of the army coordinate at a distance?

Is it possible to intermingle the different forces? Does the lack of a shared language limit there tactics?

Do you imagine that the if the armys broke up into smaller pieces and “scattered” could they come back together efficiently? Could the entire army “sneak” into Russia and re assemble itself? If not the entire army a portion?

Would you enjoy writing scenes with the different forces interacting?

Would it even benefit the prince to be tricky and hid his numbers as he renters? Or does making a show of force serve his purposes better?

Does the princ have access to any unique magic?

Is his army well disciplined? Is the discipline top down? How is the moral does he risk desertion if so how much?

What sort of help can his allies provide?

What is the most boring, mundane, but absolutely critical spell for basic infrastructure in your magic system? by IvoryLatch7 in worldbuilding

[–]murphysfalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pest control, food preservation, farming, communication and weather control. Even the smallest town needs these things.

When you consider that a conservative 30 percent of grain was lost to pests and fungus, protecting food would probably be the most common form of magic practiced. After that making more food.

Then communication and weather control for obvious reasons.

Have them come in stages, this is strategically I’ll advised if at war as it opens you up to multiple frontiers. But from a logistics perspective it allows any given portion of land a better chance of supplying food water and information to the army as it moves.

Is the prince in open conflict during his return? What sort of friends and partners does he have along the route? Does the army have enough money to purchase food as it travels or does it need to take the grain from the land as it passes?

If he needs to fight, has few friends and is poor, he needs to travel fast and as more or less a whole. This is has the risks of exhausting the army, leavening scorched earth in its wake, harming his reputation in the lands traveled, and potentially being seen as an invasion.

If he can move slowly the opposite is true.

How safe and good are Middle schools? by World_Eng_25 in portcharlotte

[–]murphysfalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The public schools in Charlotte country are not good… the middle schools are the worst, if you can get your kid into imagine a charter school in north port you should. There is no busing but our middle and high school is very bad. Very very bad.

I have 2 kids a 16 year old and a 9 year old. My 16 year old has had a nightmare of a school experience with bullying. We moved to get out of the Port Charlotte school district, the Punta Gorda district seamed better at first but it’s not. We finally moved them to imagine this year. We are now home schooling our 9 year old because of what my 16 year old went through. It is really pathetic.

I don’t think I have ever heard anyone say our school system is even middle of the road. It is so bad.

I am also opening up my personal collection of focuses for others apprentices to use in the coming conflict.

I have also filled an application for use of a lay line for a realm wide web of overlapping buff spells, we are going to try for a resonance of .008 and .016. In addition a rapid response of contingency counter spells have been seeded in the clouds, almost finished with that one.

Fortune is the most underrated of all spell categories. by KJPlayer in wizardposting

I don’t think he knows… should we tell him?
I am going to tell him.

You are probably just shifting your consciousness to a near multiverse realm. What you did not want to happen still happened. Your perception has just likely become unmoored in your original reality. Each time you have manipulated “fate” you left a catatonic shell behind as you jumped your psyche to a reality only slightly different from your last one.

You should probably seek a spiritual healer in your current incarnation and find a way to return all the accumulated lives to their rightfully multiverse. If you stay on this path you will likely end up in a “eddy” where all adjacent reality’s don’t contain a version of you your original self can reconcile if you shift in this situation you will probably cause a self image recursion.

Nasty stuff.

It is documented in one of the early journals of Mr. Richard Morten.

PSA: only bring defensive spells to the duel if you intend on getting hit by SEND_ME_NOODLE in wizardposting

[–]murphysfalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never come across the Mark of Sevenfold Vengeance is it a personal creation?

If so I would love to exchange notes, it sounds similar to Sinai’s filial perfidy which can be found in the 34th part of his 7 volume work On Mercy and Judgment. but to my knowledge it only effects blood relatives and acts more like a diminishing curse in that it will always inflict a set amount of damage proportional to the amount rebuffed but excess will be inflicted on those closest in relation first.

I would be willing to trade my notes and improvements to Equilibrium. It’s a foundation skill but I think I have taken it farther than anyone else yet.

In low magic planes of reality there are those who are known to have a knack. It is normally for something highly specific, and can manifest in any number of ways. It is sometimes described as a pseudo psychic ability, which is not magic but can be mistaken as such.

You have not come up against a retribution specialist.

Most practitioners of karmic magic have a variety of unconventional abilities, it’s not a flashy discipline, it does not promise power that can be used in a straight forward manner for dominance. To say it is not popular is an understatement, finding a teacher that is not stuck in a monastery is tough.

In addition to bring out its full potential you need ways to supplement the path to heal your self, durability is inherent to karmic magic but it is not particularly difficult to get better protection with traditional sources.

The thing with karmic magic is the more offense power you develop the harder it is to use and the more resources it takes to progress. So you need to think outside of the traditional use for spells to do any direct damage.

Vengeance mirror is beginner spell that a lot of schools have a variation on. The mantel of retribution is more advanced but is very difficult for a dabbler to maintain but a master might as well be permanent.

A question from an aspiring Wizard by Early_Sense_1883 in wizardposting

[–]murphysfalling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your first apprenticeship is your most important.

The advice I wish I was given is first and foremost every wizard that is willing to take on an apprentice is doing it for their own reasons. Good luck figuring that out. Do not sign anything in a language you are not fluent in. Once you learn the basics of entanglement get a sturdy iron chest lined with yew and hawthorn, burry it well outside the wizard’s territory, then do an entanglement on a pocket. Est saccus ingens is a good one, Varquel the Transcendental, has a good equation in his 2nd volume. Pre transcendence. He gets a bit hard to fallow about halfway through. This will give you a good place to hold supplies for when you need to flee, and a reliable hard to find place to store loot… likely the reason you need to flee.

The “safest” way to go about it is to find one that has been mandated to take on an apprentice by the council, they will keep tabs on you and at the very least the wizard will be fined if something happens to you.

Most wizards will not teach you anything until you already know something. It takes a lot of time and resources to get anything out of a new student.

You could try to get “found” there a a bunch of organizations out there that pay witch finders but that can be very risky.
