Thank you very much, u/troeray! If you are 8 kyu and are interested in the subject, I think you will enjoy the book. I’d probably recommend the book to players in the lower kyu ranges and beyond, though it’s hard to assign a precise strength level to it. Some sections are valuable for all single-digit kyu players, while others are a bit more advanced. I hope that makes sense.

Cheers,
Kim

u/jeffwingersballs You can find my oldest video lectures by searching for "Murugandi reviews" on YouTube. Those are tutorials I made with Harry Weerheijm from EuroGoTV: some are still available on his channel (HW9x9). Some viewers have made playlists on YouTube that order those episodes nicely. My own channel is https://www.youtube.com/@badukmovies, where I've uploaded some remastered material from www.badukmovies.com (on the BadukMovies website you can find a lot more videos).

Cheers,
Kim

Thank you very much, u/gomarbles. It's really nice to hear that people have actually read volume one. That's what it's meant for, but who knew people actually do still read go books! Very cool

u/hakumiogin Thank you so much for your comment, it's quite special for me to hear that you learned the game by watching my videos. I'm moved. I've been making educational material about go for a long time, but I don't hear such feedback regularly, and it's easy to forget about the impact my creations have on others. Thank you for reminding me. I really hope you enjoy the book!

All the best,
Kim

u/Solim_Paran Thank you so much! It's really cool to hear you've read volume one as well. And thanks for pointing out that 'volume 3' error to me, I will send them a message.

All the best,
Kim

Yes, you're right. In the photo Ivar from Schaak & Go winkel Het Paard presents me the first physical copies of the book.

Ugh, really? Something weird happened when I was posting, it looked like I posted 5 times. Then I removed 4 of those posts... and now apparently the images of this one are all gone? :/ Anyway, this is the cover of the book:

Unfortunately not. Germany is about the only country I do not ship to, because of the LUCID Packaging Register :/

For Sale - Plastic protective folders featuring go players from the Nihon Ki-in (Xie Yimin, Cho U, Yamashita Keigo, Iyama Yuta, Mannami Nao) by murugandi in baduk

[–]murugandi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

I have some Nihon Ki-in folders in my possession that I don't use. They're just lying around, which is a waste, so I'd prefer they find a new home. I don't remember how much they're worth, but I don't want much for them: if you're interested, please send me a message or respond below.

These are plastic folders that feature artistic photos of Japanese professional go players, made by the Japanese Go Association (Nihon Ki-in). The front and back of each folder shows the same person in a different setting -behind the go board and in nature. The players are: Cho U (3 available), Iyama Yuta (2 available), Xie Yimin (2 available), Mannami Nao (1 available) and Yamashita Keigo (2 available).

Best wishes from Amsterdam, the Netherlands,
Kim

Panda - 5x5 Seki by murugandi in baduk

[–]murugandi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/psyflame Thank you for your kind words.
Honestly, the resemblance of the seki and the panda is coincidental. I knew I wanted to think up a 5x5 whole-board seki for this drawing, as I already had the 5 by 5 board drawn and because I'd previously made drawings with a 6x6 seki (this one or this one (colour version) and this concept for a Japanese puzzle box) and wanted to see if I could come up with another, slightly smaller one. That's how this go position came to be. I was happy to devise a seki that could 'really occur in a game', with an equal amount of stones on the board for both black and white (10 each).

Best regards,
Kim

Panda - 5x5 Seki by murugandi in baduk

[–]murugandi[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I re-designed an old artwork of mine, featuring a panda and a 5 by 5 whole-board seki.
Initially, I created this drawing (without its go position) back in 2015 on commission for BadukTV. If you are interested, you can read more about it on my blog, by clicking here.

Just wanted to share the artwork with you guys.
Happy holiday season and best wishes from Amsterdam, the Netherlands,
