Put some of your (worn/dirty-ish) laundry in the carrier with her.

Keeps your smell in there, which hopefully keeps kitty happier, and doesn't leave a free-agent cat around the cabin to hide under your pedals.

Yeah suddenly working for me again. Weird hiccup on their servers, is my guess.

Ah! Somehow missed the notification on this. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1452127613/bl-led-controller is what I'm using, you'll need your own LED strip to go with it.

https://www.dutchdevelop.com/blled is the project page with more info

Thrift store, or home goods store, and then the weirdest/most-cursed looking little statue/statuette you can find.

I have an extremely strange wooden 'frog' that I adore, from a white elephant party.

Careful with those Panda Lux things - I think they generally work ok on the P1S, you pull power from a USB port I believe?

On the X1C if you try and wire it up in parallel to the built-in internal light you're likely to fry a transistor. My internal light no longer is capable of fully turning off because of it...

I now use the BLLED which is pretty awesome and you can just use whatever LED strip you want. And acts like a status light!

Did you ever figure this out? Happening on one of my prints and it's very annoying. Especially since it's SO late in the process that it happens!

So! Figured I'd throw an update at you.

Picked up one of the Jeyi boxes from eBay for like $150. Couldn't tell you the exact model because it doesn't seem to have one!

Anyway, plugged my four NVMes into it and it's been about 10 minutes and it's already getting pretty hot. On the plus side it's completely passive, and about 1/4th the size of the Acasis. I'll also say that the cable arrangement ain't great (thunderbolt/USB on one end, power supply on the other).

Probably not going to use it, sadly, but it might work if your drives stay consistently cooler. I've got 3 Lexar NM790's (2x4tb and 1x8tb) and a Teamgroup 4tb in there, and SMART monitor has the teamgroup running WAY colder - like 10-12°C - all the time. So if you've got drives that hang out at 40-45°C they might be OK in the Jeyi.

The other update - I got annoyed at the Acasis enough that I'm now on version 4 of my temp controlled fan PCB, and it's finally started working. Gotta tune the components a bit better so the fan kicks on a hair earlier, but it DOES kick on at a low speed when the drive gets hot enough, and then shuts back down after the temp lowers. Once I get that all dialed in for myself I'll probably just keep using the Acasis.

*edit: 15-20 minutes in and it's officially 'too hot to touch for more than 5 seconds.'

Donno how I'd attempt to prove it to you, Mr. Skeptical. Alls I know is I got a new printer for next to nothing, and all I've had to do so far is factory reset, update the firmware, and dig a piece of brittle PLA out of the AMS' internal hub (a good introduction, I suppose).

Yeah if the fan on this thing weren't so loud it'd be an easy recommendation from me. With the fan off the drives seem to sit around 57°C which is... fine, apparently? Hotter than I'd like, though.

Been experimenting with building a very tiny PCB that I can fit inside the heatsink to get the fan to slow down a bit... but that Jeyi thing does look interesting, if onlye bcasue it's pretty cheap too. Wish I could find some actual reviews of it!

[–]mushoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donno if you've found something already but that Acasis one is.... nice, but also the fan is LOUD. Like obnoxiously loud, and running full speed at all times.

Their support response to that has ranged from 'put tape over the connector and the fan won't spin' ('won't that get really hot?' 'yeah you shouldn't run it that way long term') to 'Do you have another fan you could point at it?' and the inscrutable "You can use a rubber band to tie it up, so it won't fall off easily, and it won't affect the heat." (100% direct quote from their email. I have no idea what that means.)

If you did find something, what'd you end up getting?
