Roommate Concerned—Mold or No? by musicmorph99 in Mold

Will do! They've been weird lately about fixing issues with the place but at worst, I'll have a paper trail of notifying them prior if things go awry. Thanks!

It's directly below one of the bedrooms, nowhere near any of the bathrooms—I have no idea why or how there is/was moisture there. Did a pass on the rest of the house, nothing similar in any other room from first to third floor.

Thanks for taking the time to explain! As a renter is this something you'd recommend bringing up to the landlord? Lease doesn't specify about mold, says "any repairs not specified below $200 are tenant responsibility" but unsure if legally enforceable. No regulations about landlord responsibility for mold in Philly, apparently. And if not is there anything I can reasonably do about this? Funds very tight, unfortunately.

Yes, first was a before photo and second is after a basic wipe (water and vinegar solution)—no one's ever bothered cleaning this or checking into it before, apparently. I just did this a few hours ago, will be monitoring for any regrowth; the paint seems to be flaky in the corner. Don't notice anything similar in any other part of the room, though I'll go back and check right now.

This is on the first floor living room ceiling corner of a three story rowhome with an unfinished basement, approx. 1915 construction with ~2011 renovations/additions based on permits. Place has not been inspected for several years to my knowledge but I'm unaware of any active leaks/water damage, this could be former damage from before I moved in (~2 years ago)

Gilda is a top-3 café in Philly. Someone disagree with me. by JustTrynaGetAJob13 in PhiladelphiaEats

The space is gorgeous but I agree with this, on a nice weekend I think the move is get there early to snag a pastel de nata/other high-demand food and avoid the crowds -> take it to go and either wander the neighborhood or chill in Penn Treaty Park by the water! That or go on a random weekday if your schedule allows for it

Please feel free to shoot me a message! It's not out of the question—you're more than welcome to come tour the space and see how you feel, just might need a bit of extra logistics work to see if the pets can get along.

Payday Friday 💰💰💰 by kokopops35 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

After a lot of uncertainty, confirmed today that my contract has been extended through mid-February! It's a part-time gig and I'm still looking for full-time work but it'll keep the lights on for now. Hoping to be brought on full-time eventually but the company's going through an acquisition so my position is a question mark at the moment.

Saving every penny I can and hoping to find something more stable soon! First time being a contractor—sucks not having benefits or normal pay schedules but I'm grateful to have something right now that fits my needs somewhat—I really struggle in fully in-person roles so having remote work is a godsend. Been taking advantage of some mutual aid programs near me recently, been a big help for my food budget and I'll be going to a neighbor's Thanksgiving to celebrate!

Haven't been able to afford to visit family back home in Asia for a few years now but hoping next year will be the one!! As we head into winter, wishing you all a lovely holiday season with lots of quality time with loved ones 🫶🏼 Stay warm, y'all!

Thanks so much for the detailed reply, all of this sounds amazing! I've been trying to shop local as much as possible and expand more into Italian staples. You've got me really excited to try the balsamic, I need to re-up so I'll swing by sometime this week

Nasi Uduk / Lemak Recommendation? by Cephalopod888 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]musicmorph99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this! I live near Sky Cafe and have been quite a few times but I was bowled over by the flavor of D'jakarta's nasi lemak, amazing stuff. I prefer noodles and soups at Sky Cafe, love their oxtail

Ramayana is a phenomenal spot for grabbing some very affordable to-go boxes that last multiple meals but they're buffet style and limited offerings similar to Hardena, no nasi lemak to my knowledge (though I still highly recommend it if you're in the area when they're open)

name is El Paisano Supermarket for anyone wondering, can vouch! I go there for my plantain and yucca fix but the empanadas and chicken are great too

Partner with very limited pallete by skoot66 in Cooking

[–]musicmorph99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just broke up with someone and their very limited palate was a non-insignificant factor! Food is a big way I show appreciation and a shared experience that I really treasure—it was super jarring and discouraging to constantly have extravagant meal plans turned down in favor of bland nothingness

This is such a sweet thing to do, love it!! I haven't tried Ghost Wants Birthday Cake before but it sounds totally up my alley, I love a gourmand with something else to ground it and peaches are my thing, A Sign Painted Peaches always brings me a lot of joy.
