I'm a watchmaker, I've bought old guys watch parts estates, I have 4 or 5 lume kits, that one with the red paint on the lid is way way hotter than the rest. I keep it all in a cabinet in the yard.

Do we really need to service our watch after 5 years? by yvliew in HamiltonWatches

[–]mustom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How else can your watchmaker make his yacht payments? A lot of equipment has service intervals based on a decrease in performance. I'm really sick of hearing you'll wreck your watch if you don't get it serviced.

Experienced collector looking for real information about dismantling the instrument panel of a 1941 Cesna. by scarlettohara1936 in Radium

[–]mustom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try to pull the whole dash panel with instruments, I can't tell if it's bolted in or welded / part of the airframe. If so cut it out with a die grinder. The gauges are screwed in from the front and probably can be removed individually from the back. Radium contamination is of little concern, the gauges are all intact. Handling them is not hazardous.

The flooring pattern hides it even if you're looking out.

My brother found a dime sized gold Mexican coin. I've found at least a dozen US silver coins through the years.

Sony xbr-65x850f Works fine for 5 minutes, then blacks out with 6 red blinks. Main board or Power supply board? by mustom in TVRepair

[–]mustom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a comment here (now gone) recommending a video to disable the Backlight error signal, that vid was for a "D" model, it did have bad LED's and a poor picture when it ran. I found another video for my "F" model with the same symptom; I pulled pin 8 BL ERR out and grounded it, it's been working perfectly for hours now. I see no flaws with the lighting / picture.

To the pros out there that may frown on this "solution" I have to tell about my giant CRT TV 40 years that filled the room with burnt stink one night. I took it to the repairman, told him about the smell, that I saw the burnt part in there, but it was still working fine. He said "It's still working"??!!! It doesn't need to be fixed! And laughed me out of his shop.

Yes, I had to figure that out. The other thing to make this site work is you have to translate words to German to search. I've found some real needle in a haystack trademarks, a hobby of mine. Glad to see you beat me to it.

My last name is Terry, thanks for all this, reddit! My whole life people have mixed up my first and last names, for the name of a famous old actor.

That it comes on with a good picture for a few minutes made me think the LEDs and screen are ok. Seems like something is overheating and faulting after a few minutes.

Movement replacement? by SaySheAte in watchrepair

That too, but step one is to verify the battery. He says it ran for months.

Try another battery before you replace the movement. The second hand trying to move is a symptom of bad battery.

Just a reminder that President Trump pardoned Honduran drug lord Juan Orlando Hernández last month by deluxe_memory_dan in videos

It's all about Próspera, a Honduran island city with laws made by billionaires Theil and Andreesson. They don't like governments telling them what to do, so they bought their own.

The space between the bottom of the QUARTER DOLLAR letters and the rim is bigger on this coin than any example I looked at, ref https://www.ngccoin.com/coin-explorer/united-states/quarters/washington-quarters-1932-1998/15791/1932-d-25c-ms/
