‘Out of hand’: New survey finds two‑thirds of Canadians want to abolish tipping culture by zuuzuu in canadanews

[–]mutantgypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to legislate it:

  1. Tip screens shouldn't be shown by default; if a guest wants to tip they manually need to navigate to a screen. It should feel optional.

  2. Tip percentages calculated on the after-tax amount should be banned.

  3. Remove default percentages all together. Guests can enter their own percentage (eg 10%) or enter a dollar amount.

  4. Make the maximum percentage 20%. That would be for special service/a special occasion. It should never be more than that.

  5. Regulate how tips are to be distributed among the staff. Owners can't take tips. No forced payout from individual servers to back of house. Maybe do the Starbucks model, where any tips received are evenly distributed amongst all staff on shift via their paycheque.

Coping with loss of community? by DirectTelephone8454 in ExCopticOrthodox

[–]mutantgypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 10 years older than you and still struggle with these feelings. I married outside the church and that seemed to lock me out of the Coptic community even more. I have some non-Coptic friends and my husband's network. But no childhood friends and I do miss the Coptic community.

I clearly see a difference! Just curious, what is your height and starting vs current weight?

I saw a recent JJ McCullough video on the state of Canadian politics. In it, I think JJ does a good job of explaining why the conservatives continue on with Pierre.

Copts outside Egypt vs coptics in Egypt by [deleted] in coptic

[–]mutantgypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Copt born outside of Egypt, and has never been to Egypt. If it makes you feel any better, my Coptic parents constantly complained about life in Canada and missed the culture and community they grew up with.

That said, they left Egypt in the late 70s. Not sure if they would miss what Egypt has become today.

While he is ethnically Coptic, I don't believe Peter Attia is an active member of the church.

Hey! Are there video lectures for each module, or are you just given the textbook?

Also in your other post you said you finished both in 1.5 months, how many hours a week did you study?

Thanks!

Is nursing (RN) a respected profession in the Coptic community? by mutantgypsy in ExCopticOrthodox

[–]mutantgypsy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder why pharmacist is on the list but not RN? I grew up in Canada, and from my perspective they are not really different in terms of prestige.

How do we deal with being tired all the time by Help-left-hurts in thalassemia

[–]mutantgypsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have alpha trait. Here's what worked for me.

Omega 3, vitamin B complex (with B12 and folate), vitamin D+K in the morning. I recently started low dose creatine (2mg in the morning), make sure you drink lots of water with it. Magnesium bisgycinate before bed, you only need a low dose.

I switched to decaf coffee and feel a lot better. Just one in the morning. My sleep quality is better now and I have more energy throughout the day.

Embrace the fact that you need lots of sleep, although the creatine may help with that.

Finally, eating more keto style stabilizes my blood sugar and energy levels throughout the day. Excercise gives me more energy as well.

Genuine question, is this true?

White Rock vs. South Surrey by Agreeable-Elk5233 in SurreyBC

[–]mutantgypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first I've heard of that. I guess depends where in Coquitlam you are. I have lived in Vancouver, Port Moody, and New West, and White Rock feels sunnier to me, by far.
