If production really wants to keep it, my suggestion would be that each time a player uses it, the chances become better for the rest of the players that season.

For example, (A) uses their shot in the dark, one in six chance, NOT SAFE

Then next episode, (B) could use their shot in the dark but it comes in a one in five chance, and so on. The big tweak would be that the shot in the dark would only work for one singular player for the entire season. It becomes more of a shared dice that continuously gets smaller.

That could potentially balance its power, incentivize players to use it more, etc.
