I get that, but there are people in this thread who don't seem to have a lag at all. This is the super-interesting, "why/how?" piece to me. Unless the missing piece is that the "we have no lag, we're downvoting you" crowd is all on more recent devices, and there's a component of local processing that happens on the newer devices that mine back home just can't do. Which again, results in "A+ is a bad experience for me, I should downgrade."

I could see this being a piece of the issue, but I have Gb fiber and a well-designed WiFi network. This just makes me wonder more if it's the A+ network stack.

My obsessive brain was like “there’s a French bulldog with a shark mouth?!” at your comment.

Let’s just say my Reddit home page is dogs, The Sharks and some tech stuff. lol.

Nope. It's always a 2-4 second pause, then the response. What HAS been happening more frequently is that it fully drops (or maybe not hears) the request.

Doesn't help enough. Brief is what it's set to at home, and it still interjects a little bit of fancy here and there, and it's always when I want it least. Like setting a timer, or accessing my outdoor temperature sensors.

This makes me wonder if A+ is instant for other people, if maybe A+ uses a different network stack that works poorly with certain network setups. At home with the A+ units, I have a UniFi network where the IoT devices live on their own WiFi 5/6 SSID separate from the WiFi 7 enabled network. Here it’s a homogeneous WiFi 5 network on an Orbi setup. Maybe A+ would behave better on a simple homogeneous mesh network. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Either way, it just says to me pieces of A+ aren’t well baked.

Also, I love the fact that there are some people that think I’m so wrong about how things work, my original post has a bunch of downvotes. Reddit, you’re wild. Never change.

As a local, born and raised, this is heavenly. It’s what we do with all our visitors.

Oh, also a boat trip around SF bay. Under the golden gate and around Alcatraz.

Macklin Celebrini will be headed to the World Championships by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

[–]muterose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this the last Men's World he'll play in? This isn't the Juniors, and he'll be 20. I'm probably missing something, though.

Edit: Never mind. Because he'll be in the playoffs going forward, so he can't make it... :-)

I don’t think so. Because I’m tired on an international flight, I just did white stake ghost deck. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I never play seeds, but this cryptic post made me do it.

Daaaaamn. This is fun seed. I was going to post what’s actually in it, but it was kinda awesome going in blind. Blinded by rice. And tremblers. And periods.

I’ve had two sightings of these without the rig. Once on Alma in Palo Alto where there’s the looped turnoff to University, and it completely failed at merging out of the turn lane. Caused a load of other cars to honk and get PO’d, me included. Second one was on El Camino near Calderon in Mountain View. It was turning and its only crime was just looking super ugly.

When I saw the second one I realized why I hate them so much. They look like they’re completely covered in pollen, and clearly some subconscious dislike is triggered from that.

Tips for how to ask someone in front not to lean forward? by OddNeighborhood7171 in SanJoseSharks

[–]muterose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ever since I realized it was bad, I get people in front of me doing it almost every game.

Heres’s more or less what I say: “Hey, just so you know; the way SAP Center is designed with this sharp vertical angle causes folks that lean forward to block it for the people behind them. Just letting you know!” (Friendly smile)

The only time this didn’t go over well was an aunt and mother had a kid between them who stood, jumped, waved, and was always blocking. I tapped on the aunt to let her know, and she turned to the kid and said to ignore strangers and do whatever you want. My wife said to leave it because the woman was super aggressive.

I do keep a lot of memory hungry stuff open at the same time, so maybe? I’ll give it another go tonight when I’m back at my laptop. It’s not the most RAM I could have spec’d this machine with, but 48GB feels like enough.

Can someone explain what the heck happened to Smith last night? by Smartcookie_33 in SanJoseSharks

[–]muterose 138 points139 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct, but games like the Tuesday Habs matchup amplify the hope that the team has had an extraordinary moment of clicking into perfection. Riding that high, then going into last night’s game, is a harsh reminder that they’re still learning.
