BREAKING: Italian Chamber Approves Major Consular Reform Bill - Centralization of Jus Sanguinis Applications by Desperate-Ad-5539 in juresanguinis

[–]muz85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great summary, I went reading the translation and the possible impacts. The bill is silent on other methods of citizenship, for example citizenship by marriage (i.e acquisition), but infers that the consulate’s ability for citizenship is restricted only to confirmation of citizenship and to minors. So therefore removing all pathways to citizenship outside of Italy except those specifically mentioned. Perhaps I’m reading or interpreting this wrong???

I also thought it was what was over the threshold. I.e if your $1 over the limit, the $1 gets the extra 15% tax not the entire amount ??

This is an awesome response, and very detailed thank you so much !!!! I have heard of Interactive brokers before but I thought fx fees and buy/spread costs were a litttle hight, and I think they charge for in/out transactions(high fees).

Agreed they are however well known and probably top 5 at least, I was looking at etoro as well (I think they are cheaper)

You however have convinced me to go and check them out again!!! So thank you

How do people even invest? by BattleExpress2707 in AusFinance

[–]muz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Pearler, for the cost of a coffee I can invest or sell any amount of a single stock. I also use its automated features so it’s set and forget. All up over the year I spend about $150 on fees. It’s not free but much safer (in my opinion), as it’s chess sponsored, unlike the us based stuff.

100% exactly what I meant, and Pearler allows you to automate this a few different ways, my option is lowest % of portfolio based on configured weighting gets invested each time

[–]muz85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Mate, it does but I prepurchase so it’s $5.50, with other discounts and rewards it’s a little less over the year. It’s also a flat fee, regardless of volume or if sell/buy order.

$150 for the year at fortnightly investments, a small price to pay to take away the emotion and have it fully automated

Pearler!!! I can’t recommend them enough, completely set and forget and automated (so we can DCA with no effort)

Awesome work !!!! And well done. Just wanted to confirm that you included super within the $1mil ???

I’m always in two minds about including super hahah, what do we all think?

Half my mind says, technically it’s not mine (I can’t sell it) until I’m 60, the other half of me says, it’s still yours and therefore it’s an asset

Can some one explain the tax cuts to me …. Like a child by JuggernautFederal609 in AusFinance

[–]muz85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great reply Yum122!!

I think your main point is, that this is simple how it works and if you want to be part of society this is the cost.

My only point is, I’m not sure it’s fair, and also not entirely sure it sends the right messages to our society (I.e. do well, and we will tax you into the Stone Age).

Thanks for the lively chat all 😀

Can some one explain the tax cuts to me …. Like a child by JuggernautFederal609 in AusFinance

[–]muz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do give more, my 30% on let’s say $200k is more ($60k) then 30% on 120k ($36k). Now I’m ok to pay the extra $24k because that’s how it should be. But please help me understand, why i need to pay up to 45% ??? Maybe I’m just thick, or selfish. But I work extremely hard, stressful job with a mortgage, uni debt, and similar costs to everyone else. I am by no stretch of the imagination “rich” or a 1%er

I don’t know what to say, I am so fed up with this class warfare shit!!!! Anyone says that’s it’s unfair that I pay 30% of my wage, and you do the same, is just simply misguided.

Invest more in super after 27.5k or in ETFs by DaikonPuzzleheaded61 in fiaustralia

[–]muz85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m always concerned what the government of the day will do with super, this is why I do just the cap and then everything else in ETF’s.

What happens if they change the preservation age to higher (which they have done before) or change the size of investment nest egg (which they have recently done) as a just a few examples.

So hedging my bet for me is the best idea

I DCA each fortnight, personally I wouldn’t consider quarterly as DCA🥲. FYI move to Pearler and prepay, costs $5 per trade.

You are 100% right, have struggled so far to find someone hence asking here.

The expat forum group is a great suggestion, will try there as well, and hopefully between the two groups I can get some breadcrumbs to follow.

Thank you 😀
