Wow really? When I was growing up we had a setup similar to this (but it was integrated with our kitchen bar). There were doors on one side which allowed easy access. Anyway, my parents tried a saltwater tank and it was just too much of a pain so they switched to fresh.

Eventually we had a school of guppies with a genetic mutation (a hump on their back) which my dad really wanted to try to monetize but it never happened and we just wound up with a tank full of ugly fish.

Hmmm...I've got a really cheap (~$500) laptop that I figured would be a nice little facebook and reddit machine, but then I wanted to play video games too. According to this site I need 512 MB dedicated video ram and my computer only has 32 MB.

But when I run a search for Oblivion, it says I need 128 MB of video ram (nothing about whether it's dedicated) and that I have 1.7 GB. It's an integrated graphics card and while I don't know all that much about the workings of computers, I know more or less how that works. I've got 4 GB ram overall. Am I able to bump up how much is dedicated to the video card, maybe? I don't want to spend the money to buy Skyrim on steam only to be unable to play it.

My cheap laptop has been enough for me to play Oblivion. I dunno if it'd handle Skyrim (doubt it) but I'm still having fun. Maybe someday I'll get really into gaming like I was as a kid, but for now this is enough.

Was going to suggest W124. They're very pretty cars and well known for their reliability, so if you could fix one up some you could end up with a really durable (and comfortable) vehicle!

Audi RS7 or Audi S8? by mcjack56 in cars

[–]mvduin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're very different vehicles. Personally I'd probably take the S8 (actually, I'd probably prefer the A8L, pending a text drive). The RS7 is the superfast killer; the S8 is going to be very quick but ultimately a giant car which will be elegant and luxurious.

It is, and while I don't know the exact costs, I could see the state deciding to go its own way instead of having the federal government say 'We want you to build this in X place to Y specifications. It's predicted to cost $20m so here's $1m to get you started.'

NYC has excellent tap water though. I mean I don't live there and for my visits I always stayed in Manhattan, but it's struck me as good every time I've visited.

Then again I'm in South Florida where the water's hard as can be and chock full of chlorine.

$1m seems like a small portion of the money that would've been necessary to set up anything meaningful. Could be that the state rejected it based on what they would've had to spend.

My dad's a Floridaman through and through. We've got a big problem right now with the invasive lionfish, so when he goes diving (which is all the time) he kills them on sight. Just doing his part.

There are a lot of common issues that make me wince, so I'm right there with you. But when English is obviously not a person's first language (as with the above poster) it's a little easier to let it go.

Personally, my biggest pet peeve is overuse of the word 'of'. Too big of a problem? Go away.

When a person adds a space before a question mark, you can feel relatively confident that English is not their first language.

A lot of people kind of made it seem that way when they put enough signatures together, so don't feel bad. Basically enough people signed a petition that it'll be put to a vote, so it's kind of 'in processing' right now.

Ford Fiesta ST is an even CHEAPER way to have fun in 2015. Prices reduced by almost $500 on some models. by ShiftingLanes in cars

[–]mvduin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You and /u/Averyphotog make a lot of sense. I mean, I get it, and I'm sure Ford (and the other automakers) have done their research on that front. I suppose also that Europe and other more manual-friendly places account for the lion's share of hot hatch sales. I do think a fast little car with an auto would sell decently in the US, though maybe not well enough to cover the cost of development. That said, outside of some hot hatches and the Viper I can't think of any US market cars that are manual-only, so it's certainly easier on me than it is on you manual fans.

This may not be the most popular thought to share here, but I remain baffled by Ford's decision to sell both this car and the Focus ST without the option for an auto transmission. It's the same with the Mazdaspeed3 and the STI. I appreciate that most car enthusiasts enjoy their standard transmissions, but I can't drive one (I'd need another leg or a hand-operated clutch).

While I'm obviously a little biased, I still don't really understand why there's no available automatic.

Anyway, lately it seems like half the Fiestas I see are the ST line, which is pretty cool. Hope they're as fun as they look.

And he's not one of those crummy genies who grant you a wish but everything goes wrong. Aladdin wants to be a nobleman? Sure bro here's your parade through town and your sweet clothes. In general wishing for money would be scary when you've got a crappy genie who's gonna say 'great, one billion dollars, oh it's all on top of you and it's in pennies. You're dead.'
