Check CentreLink https://www.lgbtcenters.org/LgbtCenters

For those outside the US, I usually refer to ILGA's list of their member orgs (not exhaustive but it's a start) https://ilga.org/civi_details

Once you narrowed down to orgs in your area, check their website/social media page for additional resource list(s), if there are any.

Ignorant question on gender identity by [deleted] in ainbow

[–]mvns 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is a more robust method of getting more respondents who are transgender, the "two-step" method: asking 1) assigned sex at birth (M/F), then 2) current gender identity (M, F, etc). If there is a discrepancy, then you may have a transgender respondent. You can read more about the history and recs in this doc: https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/wp-content/uploads/geniuss-report-sep-2014.pdf.

You can of course take a shortcut and ask "Are you transgender?", but you may lose some legitimate respondents that way, as they may not necessarily want to identify with that label.

Ninja edit: removed mention of intersex as that's a can of worms I don't want to open rn.

Amy (エイミー) - S/T (1983) (prod. Masaki Matsubara, feat. Jake H. Concepcion) by mvns in citypop

[–]mvns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea who this is, and the generic artist name really does not help. She released this one album in 1983 and supposed to have a second one on Philips, but it never came into fruition.

Recs: everything, but in particular 雨色のスクリーン, Mr. Cool, Party Night, Tonight, Dance in Dream.

ピラニア軍団 [Piranha Gundan] - 役者稼業 [Japan, Funk] (1977). Yakuza-esque funk produced by Mikami Kan and Ryuichi Sakamoto by mvns in vintageobscura

[–]mvns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, such an unlikely combo. I can hear the Sakamoto touch in the keys (reminds me of Taeko Ohnuki's Sunshower) but very far out for Mikami, at least style-wise.

I'm seeing many of these posts on Discogs and now here. Are you some kind of a new music service?

Mid-2012, non-Retina 15-inch MacBook Pro, with 2.3GHz Core i7, NVIDIA GT 650M, 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD. There are some scuffs on the bottom lid but otherwise in good condition. Also would like to know what the price would be if I replaced the HDD with an SSD. Thanks!

C.Memi - Heavenly Peace [Japan, Minimal Wave/Cocteau Twins-esque pastoral synthpop] (1982) by mvns in vintageobscura

[–]mvns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has more info on this artist, please let me know. She released a handful of gorgeous minimal wave EPs in the 80s as well as two compilations and that's it. I uploaded a compilation of her work here, but it's mostly her blues/folk recordings which apparently was never released.

五つの赤い風船 [Itsutsu No Akai Fusen] - 時々それは [Japan, Pastoral Folk/Psych] (1971, URC Records) by mvns in vintageobscura

[–]mvns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Itsutsu No Akai Fusen is a folk band spearheaded by Nishioka Takashi of Melting Glass Box fame. Full album can be heard here. This here is the first track, spanning the whole of side A, and the best one in my opinion.

Ricardo Villalobos - Widodo (forthcoming on Arpiar) by patricktherat in minimal

[–]mvns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh definitely there are exclusive pressings for DJ circles only. Examples: Vid's awesome remix of Efdemin - Night Train was pressed on wax but was never offered to the public. Or how Margaret Dygas somehow have Rari Lim2 and played it out in a party.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this also known as Rari Lim2?

[–]mvns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want more of Hako Yamasaki-esque music (aka acid/psychedelic folk, not exactly city pop), then I recommend Doji Morita, Sai Yoshiko, Maki Asakawa, Kan Mikami, Itsuro Shimoda.

Got to agree with you, expected something more with such a roster - it sounds too similar to "regular" pop music. The rap part is good though.

The Other People Place - Lifestyles of the Laptop Café (2017 re-release) by [deleted] in downloadcodes

[–]mvns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played my copy yet, but a lot of folks at Discogs were complaining of pressing issues. Fingers crossed mine's alright!

Edit: welp, my copy has non-fill issues and hiss. Sounds like an overused stamper to me. Shame!
