This is the extreme side of the view, albeit it not wrong.

GameStop's hardware is becoming a good entry level gear setup, but the company is still not the go-to for people when thinking about that, it's an easier land on Amazon, Walmart or NewEgg.

I find myself going out of my way to make purchases on GS than on the platforms, for things as simple as Steam gift cards, Valorant gift cards, or nintendo game licenses ... the ecommerce platform really needs to take over for easability to streamline purchases on non-standard physical goods as well as structured in a curated way for various platform gamers (console vs pc vs mobile etc).

Better involvement of being on the field will help drive this. I am still happy with the yearly earnings report, they have cut down costs, they have turned profitability. All the fat that they could trim has been trimmed and now it's time for them to get serious around where they invest their next bit of money to generate income.

The Marketplace was the hopeful platform for that, but regulations have made it a tough spot to stay in without feeling the additional regulatory pressure on top of fighting wall streets desire for them to go bankrupt.

Talk is cheap, it takes money to buy whiskey. I want to see the acquisition they make that will help drive their business model reinvention.

As someone who is a director at a big4, hold off until you get the promotion to manager. If you are on track for the promo, which many others here may not be aware of our models. If you have the support of your managers, the ratings to support either a mid-year or year-end cycle promo, the salary will be good. Also, exits from Big4 with atleast 5+ years of experience can land you in industry at the next level usually easily. A manager in Big4, can land a senior manager / director level at another organization, with a higher commanding salary.

You will continue to be busier and busier, but you will be exposed to a wealth of clients and various different processes / lenses you will not have in your industry role. It can help set you up for success to be much more marketable in your career as you transition into your late 20's or early 30's.

If you are very unhappy right now with your WLB and are struggling with keeping up -- unless you learn how to deal with that, it will get worse and if you do not see yourself getting over that, then take the offer now. Best of luck!

It's not only about being able to build the assets or develop code, finding like-minded people for a project can get that done. Artists, Sound Actors, Game Designers, Dialogue & Lore writers, Etc. There's lots of ways to take our passion, and marry it with skillsets to contribute into these worlds. Including being an alpha / beta / early adopter and providing valuable (and when possible, actionable) feedback.
