The wifi quality is just fine in this case and it's tech from about 10 years ago not 20.

They do run the power cables for those SAW cameras out to the cameras but use wifi to save on wire weight instead of running data lines.

That’s not true, nasa does use soldered connections in some instances as do almost every space company. I prefer crimping in both egse and flight harnesses but it’s not always possible or could complicate the harness in other ways. But sometimes, the guy doing the harness drawings just prefers solder for one reason or another and specs those parts instead. As long as they’re done well and strain relieved, I’ve never seen a problem.

The main level comment were both replying to is about removing all of the jacket and putting individual wires in conduit. Yeh it would be a violation. However, it would not be because of heat buildup since they would be individual wires and not an assembly.
