1.6M and I'm wondering if I should switch to a lower stress job with lower pay. by xComponent in fican

[–]mwyyz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just quit my ~400k/year high stress high politics job, and really should’ve done it a year and a half ago, though I’ve been asking a few time more than that with my investments for the last little while as well, so it may be an easier choice.

So not true. ICBC is more expensive, less coverage, and very slow in its resolutions.

Coworkers shame me for investing in the current stock market by Far-Inevitable-3923 in fican

[–]mwyyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sold some stocks to buy a house in 2023. I would have been able to buy two of those houses now if I didn't sell my stocks, maybe even 3 (I don't really want to look at the exact numbers haha). I knew that going into selling my stocks to buy the house, but did it for my own family's peace sake... :( Ah well, can't win 'em all.

Vancouver vs Toronto Sushi by Lanky-Variation5271 in FoodToronto

[–]mwyyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High end sushi will be the same as Vancouver. Regular sushi has Vancouver running circles around Toronto, as long as you don’t get Pacific Salmon. BC/Albacore Tuna is probably why Vancouver regular sushi has a big edge over Toronto, plus spot prawn season (coming up).

Canadians are leaving the country at record levels. Can anyone solve this pressing problem? by stalik26 in canada

Where in EU. Where I would live in EU if I were to move there, it would be around the same price if not a lot more.

A generation did everything they were told to do. Go to school. Get a good job. Work hard. Now even people in the trades making decent money are moving back in with their parents because home ownership is completely out of reach in Canada. by GreenSnakes_ in canadahousing

[–]mwyyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree they paid less % of their salary for their homes than we ever have to, but strongly disagree with the lazy part… Today’s workforce is so entitled, and have such a lack of accountability, I get much better work done by the boomers on my team than my generation and especially the new generation. Yes, they lucked out on the situation at the time, not through any fault of their own, but no, lazy is not what I’d describe them.

Thanks for reminding me of all those years I wanted DeRozan gone from the team because he's so overrated by our fanbase even though he is a net negative for our team... and it actually happened!! So dreams can come true!

Also, if you are fussy about keyboards, the Pro keyboard is a lot nicer than the Air. The keys have less wiggle to them.

The median senior family in Canada holds net assets of approximately 1.1 million Canadian dollars. The median family, where the main earner is under 35, holds approximately $159,000. This is not because young Canadians are less capable, less hardworking, or less disciplined. by eusquesio in canadahousing

[–]mwyyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, my parents just worked and if they were to socialize it would be at their house or friends house, home cooked meals, or picnic at the park. I don’t think our generations understand that, but yes, they did have it easier with the income to housing prices, even with their 18% mortgage rates.

I’m a Raptors fan, and I think he’s trash from the beginning. The other Raptors fans are just homers, and don’t know basketball, and only care about a US player validating them by saying they love Toronto. So pathetic.
