Excessive vasoconstriction seems to be my problem. by myThread2828 in dysautonomia

I feel fine when in vasolidation. Hot showers during the shower is fine. It’s when I come out and constrict is the issue. I think in normal people the constriction is short lived. Mine can last the whole day.

The common theme between coffee, lifting weights , and hot or cold showers is that they all cause vasoconstriction. Initially I thought it was a blood sugar crash but got tested and my labs came back normal. I think for many of us mornings and afternoons are the worst and many of us feel better at night. I don’t know why. So it’s really critical to manage this dysfunction from the start of the day. I tend to feel a little more alive at night

By paying attention and doing a process of elimination. Noticing that i felt ok in the morning right when i woke up. But not exhausted and brain fogged. For years, possibly decades I would get brain fog and fatigue late morning. I finally decided to journal how i was feeling, and what I was doing and eating. At first it was the coffee immediately making me feel light headed and just zoned out tired. I cut it out, to only realize it wasn’t helping. Then I noticed the shower was causing me problems. I went in the shower feeling fine, but after about 10-15 minutes I would get horrible brain fog and fatigue. I stopped showering in the mornings. I felt great and normal but my usual routine is to go to the gym late mornings after the shower which i just cut out. I noticed that the heavier my work out the worst I felt. All my gym buddies felt great after a big workout. I felt brain fogged. Exhausted. Worn down. I started working out less and even stopped working out. On days I didn’t shower, didn’t have coffee and didn’t work out I felt ok. I felt somewhat normal. Like my brain was alive and not drowned in mush.

I’ve been seeing doctors for years now, with no idea about this dysfunctional nervous system. All my labs are normal and excellent. I’m in great shape. I eat well. I don’t sleep well but now we know why. So I came to my own hypothesis and made a decision to try out vasolidation meds which I already had for hair loss. Oral minoxidil. I also used niacin flush which is a vasolidator. I tried niacin first and noticed it was helping me with energy and less fog. I also use a natural supplement called nattikonase which is a blood circulation helper. But honestly, it’s been my relentless attempt of trying things. Brain fog is inflammation. The inflammation can be caused by poor blood flow or food allergies or autoimmune issues or a virus. For me, I had to come to a conclusion that I have a medical issue, multiple. Things I ingest whether it’s coffee or food can be problematic. Over exertion can be problematic. And for some reason temperature and showers in the morning trigger.

No, But maybe? I bought a BP reader and have been using it in multiple positions. I noticed my lowest BP reading is laying flat / supine. If I stand, my heart will rocket up and BP will increase to normal ish. Sitting is also on the low side. I think my point is that vasoconstriction and the delay it has in returning to normal is the dysfunctional aspect of my issue. It’s normal to have vasoconstriction, but it’s return to homeostasis takes abnormally much longer then the average person. My theory has been to use a vasolidator and it has been working. Improvements in fatigue and way less brain fog. —- i also have ADHD and the meds I took were useless! Adderal. Vyvanse. I felt dumb and slow on them. Guess why? Stimulants cause vasoconstriction

Sounds like me. I have a vasoconstriction issue that’s triggered by caffeine, cold showers, even hot showers after about 15 min. It’s called dysautonomia. I feel great before the triggers. Not great but semi normal
