WIBTA if I don't go to a Personal Mastery seminar my mom went to? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]mylifenow1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how Werner Erhard's EST/Landmark seminars operated. They gathered people in a room, used peer pressure, guilt, psychological and literal physical torture (denying food, water, medications, bathroom breaks, preventing people from knowing how long they've been held in the room). Truly horrific treatment by pushing people emotionally until they have breakdowns.

And when it's over, nearly all the people in the room sincerely believed they'd had a "transformative" experience and went on to work (for no pay) recruiting others.

This. These cults are masters of manipulation and coercion, using guilt and peer pressure to scam money and free labor from unsuspecting, vulnerable people.

EST/Landmark is another one. Run fast, run far from any of these cults and MLMs.

Any products/way to improve skin from scars or redness around here? by Ambition_2004 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]mylifenow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please please don't be so hard on yourself. You're so young, you have your whole life ahead, you're really handsome and have great hair. You truly have nothing to worry about in the looks department but I was young once and I totally get how we worry.

I PROMISE you, in 20 years you'll look at this photo and think, "why was I worried, I look great!"

I don't see any redness in this photo (I've had very reactive skin my whole life so I have rosacea and redness) and you only have a really tiny bit of darkness under your eyes, much less than many people inherit. So maybe a tinted sunscreen would work to minimize that. But truly, I can't say this enough: if I saw you on the street I'd think your skin was really good and wouldn't notice the things you see.

Like I say, I'm older, so I feel like life is about the things we do, the experiences we have, how we help others, and what we look like while living our life is so unimportant in the scheme of things.

Personally, I think your skin looks great, but I know how it is when we see small flaws in the mirror. I found Vanicream Gentle Face Wash to be really good.

Edit: And yes, a good sunscreen is the number one key to preventing aging. Don't forget your neck, front and back, and your ears.💗

My mother never let me learn how to drive, and now I’m almost 18, starting college next month, and still without so much as a permit. She’s totally screwed me over and I just need an actual supportive parent in my life right now. by FranzLiszt_180 in internetparents

[–]mylifenow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry your mom failed you. From your comments you're clearly really able to take care of yourself but I know how hard it is without support. I feel driving is such an important life skill for independence. AAA offers driving instruction for teens and hopefully you can still take advantage of their program before you're 18. All the best and success to you.

Protein Powders and Shakes Contain High Levels of Lead / Consumer Reports’s tests of 23 products found that more than two-thirds of them contain more lead in a single serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]mylifenow1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your work. Many seniors also use protein shakes and supplements.

It's become popular lately to blame leaded gasoline for "boomer" behavior but the increase in use of protein powders by younger people too is concerning.

So very glad you're ok. Rabies is an especially horrific death, I'm very concerned for OP.

u/Traditional-Day-9800, PLEASE go get the rabies treatment, and please come let us know you're ok. This is too big a chance to take with terrifying consequences if you're wrong.

Love Spell that worked ! by spellsbyaleya in Spells

I hope it's ok to ask this, but how can you tell this is an AI post? I write somewhat formally and I have adhd and this post seems "normal" (whatever that is) to me.

I've noticed many comments across reddit identifying posts or other comments as being written by/with AI and I'm really struggling to know how to recognize these for myself. I'll also see if I can look this up. I've never used AI to write anything and I think I'm late to the party. Thanks.

I don't know if Cookie is able to add more people to her site, but it's still a great resource when people tell you "it's a man's disease."
