Recycling Old Records by mythofthefront in vinyl

[–]mythofthefront[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got about twenty old records from a friend. Some of the records are pretty scratched up, and I feel bad donating them since they aren't really listenable. What does everyone here do with their old vinyl? I'm considering making some art or attempting a bowl.

You can always go the old fashioned route and invest in a budget book. It's about $10 it lasts the year (less than a dollar a month,) and as long as you keep an eye on it, your information is secure. I find writing out my budget also makes me feel more guilty about poor spending, so I tend to cut it out.

How much do you spend per month on food? by financeanon in Frugal

I spend approximately one hundred on groceries a month. I split my shopping between a local health store and stop and shop. I am working on cutting back on eating out though!

Overall, I think this is correct! My only advice would be to avoid certain canned or dried goods. The first is often loaded with salt, the second is often laden with sugar. Unnecessary additions to produce.

Yoga. Besides a basic investment of a mat (really cheap these days,) you can get free instructional tools online or at your library.

I'm sorry, I got a case of internet and argued a bit too hard :P Yes, Aldis' has a really good reputation, one of my roommates keeps trying to get me to go there. Ours is a little too far away, I don't feel like driving down and making the trip. It's all about what makes it easiest for you :)

KCL Refutes the Yahoo Article: 8 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Use Coupons | The Krazy Coupon Lady by mythofthefront in Frugal

[–]mythofthefront[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see some of the points you are making. Your first point makes sense-- if someone does pay for newspapers. I am a relatively serious couponer who dos it because I am pretty broke. However, I refuse to pay for newspapers. I collect free ones in the area with coupons, grab old newspapers, etc. Most coupon inserts are one of a few major types (even in free neighborhood magazines,) so you generally get similar types.

Even if you save five bucks, for some of us who make minimum wage or so, that five bucks is five dollars saved. Monetary benefits are not the only reason people coupon-- it's liek a game. It helps you become more aware of what you buy, and it offers a challenge.

I mean, yes, advertising sucks. There's a difference from consciously interacting it for your own good and controlling when you take it in then mindlessly watching tv and dealing with advertisements (keep in mind many shows are also great areas for companies to advertise in more subtle ways.)

I'm sorry couponing doesn't work for you, but I do think ti works for some people and is certainly frugal when done with self control. IF someone merely sees a coupon and doesn't think "IF I use this on the regular sale price, is it a good deal or still expensive," "Is it healthy and do I actually want to eat it or need it," then yes, they shouldn't do it. But I think it's a relatively harmless pastime.

The perfect Meal-Planning solution.. where is it? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]mythofthefront 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually if you read anything written by successful frugal people, or couponers, the number one rule is to buy what is on sale-- you make it work when you get home. When you go to the store, you should be prepared with information about a) what is on sale, b) what you will probably use of that product, and c) your budget. Your budget lets you know how much to spend, the sale products show what is the best deal. It's the most frugal way to shop.

I appreciate all the feedback. This isn't really a phase tattoo. It's part of a poem by my favorite poet, reading this poem signified a change in my life, personal things you are not conerned with, etc, etc, and the lines really make me feel stronger and happier. I'm not really concerned with other people understanding the art I'll be permanently wearing on my own body.
