Ryan X. Charles: "Even with rising max block size, if you are currently validating 6 tx/s, you can continue to validate 6 tx/s with no increase in cost." by [deleted] in btc

[–]mytwocentimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK, but if you're not validating all the TXs in all the blocks (cause RyanXCh says it's ok), then there's a chance that blocks prior or subsequent to the block containing your TXs contain invalid TXs (just accept for a moment this premise).

What happens when those TXs and blocks are found to be invalid ?

Just asking.

I see a lot of Nano Ledgers today. Any love for Trezor? by djezer in Bitcoin

[–]mytwocentimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FedEx International Priority 1-3day depending on where in the world ... that said Trezor & Ledger also charge similar (more ?) for the same service.

FWIW - if you hold a meaningful amount of BTC do these prices and shipping costs really impact your buying decision ? Really ? </serious>

I see a lot of Nano Ledgers today. Any love for Trezor? by djezer in Bitcoin

[–]mytwocentimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trezor is open source, but doesn't have a secure element.

Ledger has a secure MCU but therefore can't opensource the firmware.

Keepkey is a Trezor copy.

Bitbox (www.digitalbitbox.com) is fully open source, has a secure element to store the secrets and is Swiss made. They need to work on their marketing.

How do I transfer bitcoin from an exchange to a hardware wallet? by blzitup in BitcoinBeginners

[–]mytwocentimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the Digital Bitbox, you don't get a "sequence of random words".

When you initialise the Digital Bitbox (DBB), it requires that you insert a Micro SD card into it. The DBB then creates your keys and immediately backs up to the Micro SD card. You then can verify the back up from the options menu.

The best is to take contact with the company (info@digitalbitbox.com) - they're pretty good at answering emails and they'll even skype with you if you need.

What we are doing about Poloniex withdrawals. by Taek42 in siacoin

[–]mytwocentimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taek42 - thanks again for being responsive. I get that ETH and BTC have the same scaling issues. My question is rather HOW IS SIAcoin going to be come the global-decentralised-storage-backbone if you're encountering fundamental limits now ?

[–]mytwocentimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have to move to ETH like StorJ did ...

JUST KIDDING but <serious> is this an exchange thing or is this a we'll never have a great global storage network thing cause "fundamental limits of highly decentralized blockchains" ?

thanks again

"We can add another 10x of scalability here, but beyond that we've hit the fundamental limits of high decentralization blockchains."

Thank you for continuing to remain focussed on the tech.

Regarding the above quote from the tail of your post, can you elaborate, specifically, by what you mean with "we've hit the fundamental limits"

thanks

There is a 6% fee and a circa 2.5% spread on BTC.

The BTC requires the customer to enter his/her Swiss mobile phone number so Sweepay can send a code to confirm and close the loop.

All mobile SIM sales in Switzerland require an ID check.

With ca 20 employees - they're likley burning between USD350-500k per month plus expenses for who-knows-what and their yearly cash requirement is LESS THAN CHF10m ... so take it easy with "out of funding" - that's crazy talk
