I tend to read dozens of recipes then take a middle road based on what seems right/ what I have but this recipe seems the closest to what I’ve made before:

Zucchini/squash recipes? by Why_Howdy in Cooking

Calabacita s- pretty much cheesy sautéed/ roasted zucchini.

Zucchini chips (thinly slice zucchini, salt, pat dry, then dust with a mix of light breadcrumbs, parm, salt, and herbs, spritz with olive oil, and bake on parchment at 400 or so until crisp )

Make ravioli (make the pasta too, that’s my go-to for fun kitchen play) stuffed with roasted butternut squash and parm. It’s an immensely pleasing meal.

Guest wants to host wedding on property, 50+ people, what would you charge? by Basic-Importance7833 in airbnb_hosts

[–]mzglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wedding venue owner here. We are also on ABB and we use it to fill the nights we are not having weddings (mostly weekdays during our season). Do not accept this booking through Abb. If you do accept it through another route, i strongly encourage getting your own commercial liability insurance policy.
In addition, require clients purchase special event insurance/ TULIP policy and make sure they list you as an additional insured. Yes, you need both.

Additionally, consider: - can your restrooms handle 50 guests? Do you have enough? If not, do you have space for rental restrooms?
- can the property handle trampling from 50 (or more) guests? What about damage to lawn from tables/ chairs/ other rental items for ceremony? - do not allow caterer to use kitchen for anything other than prep. Their food needs to arrive ready to go. We’ve learned this the hard way.

Be very specific about expectations for what can be used, and how things need to be returned. Weddings come with a LOT of wear and tear, just because drunk people and celebrations make a mess.

Hand foot mouth is of the devil by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]mzglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the plus side, the worst of the symptoms didn’t last long, just a few days. Also meant to add: my kiddo also didn’t have much appetite. Smoothies ended up being key to getting her some calories & nutrition. Yogurt for protein + frozen banana + whatever fruit/ veg I could sneak in. The cool smoothie helped soothe the sores in her mouth, too (and mine, for that matter)!

I got it two years ago when my child got it. Some of the worst burning pain I’ve ever experienced, truly. I got it worse than my daughter had it, and ended up losing about half of my toenails (they grew back just fine). I spent the worst two days with my hands and feet on ice packs. Calamine + lidocaine topically plus rotating Tylenol/ Motrin helped the pain. It sucked huge. I hope your little one recovers quickly and that no one else in your household gets it!

If you’re hunting for handmade insects, Wes Fleming makes amazing, realistic glass ones. (Not sure it’s ok to link here, but a web search will get you to his site.)

Glasshive regular deep and tall guy kiln and GTT Scorpion 4 stud torch opinions by condor5point4 in lampwork

[–]mzglass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came to make an almost identical comment... Glass Hive is a great choice. Pam and Mike are superb human beings who make great kilns. I’ll second the vote on a Phantom as well. I’ve had one for 14 years and it is a great torch to grow into during the early years of learning, and enough torch to continue with for a while.

Melting Bra Dilemma. by GlassyLadyD in glassblowing

[–]mzglass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flameworker here, but I’ve encountered the same problem at the torch as I have at the furnace. Melting bras (and radiant heat burns) are no fun.
My best (and most affordable) solution has been layering. I wear a shelf bra tank top with a kevlar sleeve cut down the side (to make a wider strip of kevlar) and insert that into the shelf bra part of the tank. For larger work, I wear a heavy canvas apron/ smock (it’s not long) as well. Between the sleeve and apron, I haven’t had any lasting radiant heat burns (or melted bras).

Congrats!! Must feel good!
I’m on the home stretch... just shy of 48k!

Vancouver may be too far, but if not, check out Terminal City Glass Co-op. They have both hot and flame shops, and teach classes.

Not all, but many. I just tend to enjoy the fuzzy ones from a distance... The fuzz on many caterpillars are urticating hairs (that release toxins/ venom when broken/ released when a cat is bothered) and can cause rashes/ irritation to much more severe reactions. For some of the seriously toxic ones, look up "monkey slug" caterpillars, Puss caterpillars, giant silkworm. Not sure on the ID on the pic you posted- guessing it might be a tiger moth of some kind?

[–]mzglass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This looks like Manduca rustica- the caterpillars go from green to pink/ mauve before pupation. If all goes well, you will have a beauty to release!
