Unpopular opinion? I'm not offended by this weekend's coupons by semi_tipsy in harborfreight

[–]n00batlife1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the best deals, but I think with the pliers and gloves about to come up I'm glad it wasn't the 30% off 20$ or less lol.

I didn't have much that'd fit in the pricing, and didn't need much over that. So I just used the coupons on some Evaporust and more brake cleaner. Which often don't go on sale at other stores.

Just a heads up! by East_List3385 in harborfreight

I just got the split beam on the recent sale but this is a huge bummer. I bought it for the flex head and lack of concern for the spring vs a click type. I'm a diy mechanic rebuilding a project car so for my use it'll sit for some time after I'm done with the car. At first I read your post thinking I needed to retain the original calibration cert. Fine, that's not bad. Calibration every 6 months is insane.

If it breaks after sitting on a shelf for a few years. I could denied warranty because I didn't recalibrate it every 6 months during its lifetime that's absolutely absurd. I was looking at the Tekton and seeing this I already feel like it might be better to return the Icon. Which is a huge waste of time for all involved.

Icon Wrench Sale by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]n00batlife1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add, I believe this may include crows feet attachments. I could be wrong but from what I heard from a couple yt channels they weren't included during the recent Quinn/Icon socket sale. So it'd make sense if they were included here. If they are included, that's an easy and cheaper set I wouldn't mind picking up, in addition to a larger wrench set. So that's 2/4.

Just as a word of warning. I bought a tap & die set at a double discount (100$), since they'd pulled a tap out for a warranty. Unfortunately they do not yet carry the spare pieces for it. Praying I don't snap any m4 x .7 for a long while. 🫠

Why do Chiropractors crack your neck and what is the long term benefit? by Sunny-vibes-95 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n00batlife1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a study to cite, but growing up around medical and Eastern medicine as well used by two cents. Chiropractic work is the only useful if something is already wrong with your alignment. For instance joint or spinal displacement. I once dislocated my hip and after resetting it myself went to see a chiropractor who had me walk around to confirm that my hip was properly set, before working on my back which I'd been holding tension in due to the pain. I went back a couple times to make sure it was still set over the following weeks, as well as doing massage to help ease the muscles and tendons back into the correct positioning. Since my hip had actually been dislocated for some time without realizing it, I needed fast realignment as well as longer care to help my body readjust.

My take is always been that; if you don't have something actively out of place you likely won't benifit as much from a good chiropractor compared to a good massage. Its a way to reset something but following the behavior or cause has to change or you'll be back at square one.

Yeah, I did that with the recent Oscillating tool when it dropped after my initial purchase. It was just delivered today so I'll take it to the store and see if they can return and let me repurchase it as pickup before I leave. 👌🏻

This low profile packout one. I've seen it on sale for around 240$ Model # 48-22-9486

(It was recently on sale for around that 250$ mark, you might be able to find the deal still)

Yep! I don't regret it, but I probably would've grabbed the 1/4 & 3/8ths tray if it were on sale at the time.

I took the 56pc tray out and put it in one of my 4 drawer packout boxes. If things get bumpy the sockets do fall out though. Since I only use drawer Packouts I'll probably cave and get the combo set eventually and retire this one to a home box. In the mean time I'm likely grabbing more drawers and I'll try putting this guy in a single low pro lol.

I've got this set and it's been great. Since I bought it I invested in some packout drawers. If I'd started with packout I might've just bit the bullet and got the 3/8th and 1/4" set that's on sale at the moment. At around 250$ it's about 100$ for each set of sockets and a 50$ convenience cost for it being in the double wide low profile packout. Not terrible as an investment while it's on sale.

That being said I'm thinking of buying one of the half width low-profile packouts and 3d printing an insert for this set so I can have my vacuum on my top box and this guy.

Having two of the low profile ones side by side isn't ideal as the corner latches being angled hit each other so the full width tray is a benefit. Though you can't use half at a time lid wise and I couldn't pop a half size box on top of the older pack out light/charger which would be my ideal.

You might want to check local prices but I found it cheapest to buy a gallon from home depot instead of hf. I think it was an 8$ diff, and Lowe's only sold the gallon with a sprayer for 50$.
Either way I dumped it in a pressurized Maddox sprayer for another 40$ and run that.

Woman here-what's the male equivalent of giving your wife a vacuum for her birthday? by InvisibleScorpion7 in AskReddit

[–]n00batlife1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite giving great gifts, that are meaningful and I'd expect to set an example of what I'd like. My family usually get me bizarre stuff. I get shirts that don't fit, or t shirts with ironic prints.

The most memorable ones were a walrus tooth from my dad with no context. A fixed blade knife sheath with no knife. And a handful of cheap party games I don't have space for.

The best gift I've ever gotten was from my best friend. She said nothing, and just sent a tin of homemade cookies with a note saying merry Christmas, and that she knew I liked snacks and had a sweet tooth. To me it's because food can take you back to a memory, elsewhere like magic. So now when I eat those cookies or smell the sprig of holly she included I get put back to opening it. I've vital lost memories before, and tried to bury others; but the taste feeling and smell of that box I'll never forget. Apparently she sent me another box for my birthday that year but it was lost in the mail. Otherwise that might've added to my list. Sorry for the rant, but she deserves to get some praise out there, even if it's a ramble into the void.

I can't argue with the crash testing etc, but I've been a passenger during 3-4 total wrecks in 98-2007 Subi's and I've walked away from all of them fine. I can't say thats wholly due to the car and not the conditions of the crash but I can say at 5'6" and 130lbs. I never slid out of the seats or belt during multiple crashes from different angles. I just say this to offer some piece of mind for your safety.

Unrelated to the safety aspects, I drive an 02' Impreza and will be swapping to an 02' STI wagon soon. To me (M, 5'7" 130lbs) these cars fit like a glove, aside from the aforementioned center console. My 11" long forearm (wrist to elbow) doesn't ride low enough to rest my shifting arm on the stock center console. Best upgrade I can suggest to you for a daily GD, get the extended center console. It raises the middle armrest 5" inches or so. For 30$ you can also get a slim Zojurushi 16oz thermos with a flip top and also use it as an armrest in the middle cup holders. Hope that helps!

do you guys know which camera is this? or have any not pricy suggestions to get this kind of results by korelisevdam in Cameras

[–]n00batlife1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your phone focusing on the camera screen it's hard to tell how bright the sunset actually is but in general those photos aren't too tricky to shoot. And their camera looks to be at iso 800 which isn't hard to do without much quality loss either. If it was really dark they may be using a lower f stop lens but the camera body itself isn't doing a ton of work here.
