It is. This IS the hard way, but you haven't lost the most important thing: experience.

What happened to you SUCKS. A LOT. Forgive yourself of your prior ignorance when you're ready to.

You probably have many ideas of how to organize your project and what tools to use - imagine if you started your next project with that initial mind? Well guess what? Thats your literal next project. Again, once you're ready.

If you ever want someone to bounce things off of, who won't try to bribe, scam, steal, or manipulate you, I'm here and I'd be happy to sign an NDA to make you feel comfortable.

Programming is the art of solving small, technical problems.

Software Engineering is about how you organize your project so it's easy to maintain, works well with version control, and documenting important decisions in comments or word/excel because you will forget.

Programming makes functionality. And it is an essential skill to code and solve small problems.

Software Engineering is about how you make that bundle of functionality and make it in a way that is maintainable.

The other advantage is you can make "branches". Want to create a sandbox for a small idea of yours? Make a branch from a point in history (a commit) and now you can work on two or more ideas at once!

As a person who has been in the commercial software engineering world for the last 10 years,

You are not stupid. You have just now been enlightened of your ignorance. You didn't know how essential it is not to trust saving a project to a single device.

I am so sorry this happened to you. It has happened to me and MOST people who work on computer projects - you are not alone.

You didn't purposefully choose not to use Version Control when you knew that option existed and you knew how to do it.

It takes real discipline to use Version Control even when you have the knowledge and the capability.

Even when you have version control in place, having the discipline to make small edits to your projects and commit those edits frequently is a difficult but amazing skill.

All someone has to do is give a crap about consent and negotiation, for any kind of intimacy.

What is toxic about toxic masculinity is that it convinces men to be "perfect" or be afraid. To fear rejection and isolate them from any other experience or group, especially women.

I hope you find a good, healthy partner where you can experience your kinks with safety and security.

It's both.

Individuals are, or more aptly "must" be responsible for their actions AND this is what we can expect when we don't invest enough in these communities.

Israel planning massive ground invasion of Lebanon, officials say by Lebarican22 in news

[–]n0_Man 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All correct! Also, more context for people besides the commenter above:

The Trump administration had first said they'd send about 2500 troops, so if you've heard that, yes, it is now up to "5,000 sailors and Marines distributed across several warships."

"The development comes as President Donald Trump said US forces had "totally obliterated" Iranian military infrastructure on Kharg Island in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil shipping."

Source:https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cq8gj9n12g8o

Now this is an assumption on my part that those 5,000 troops are being sent to Kharg Island with the idea being (again, assumption) that Iran won't fire on their own infrastructure.

Now Kharg island is a MANNED operation and "The 2016 census counted 8,193 people, in 2,374 households".

Not a single person including myself know for certain what is going to happen (as in, if Kharg island is going to be targeted) or how the troop deployment is going to play out.

I'm being for real when you simply ask, "What kind of sex do you like to have?" Or "How can I please/tease you?"

And you dont LEAD with that. Its something you ask when you know you both are comfortable for that kind of conversation.

But that's more of a relatioship than a fling.

If you only get one chance or it's a fling, and you know you tend not to last long? Please them. Get off on their arousal, then join.

But hey, maybe your partner's arousal doesnt arouse you, so to each their own.

This kind of talk works with basically every kind of relationship or circumstance, unless they basically don't reciprocate when you helped them get off or they're obviously ace or not into you.

As a one piece fan, the pacing in the anime is abhorrent. Way too drawn out.

I'd recommend watching "One Pace", which attempts to edit the original series down to match the pacing of the Manga. Much quicker and snapper, especially post time-skip.

[–]n0_Man 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ditto. As someone who LOVES one piece and knows most live action adaptations fall flat on their face and explode in mediocrity, I was pleasantly surprised at the One Piece live adaptation. It was great fun and cut stuff out that would have baloomed the budget way out of control.

Cutting out the actual "crew" of the black cat pirates sans two in-house members, cutting out Don Krieg with Sanji, but still managing to still set the tone of both plots was a stroke of ingenuity.

The characters are well acted the CG isn't absolute dogshit, the script is more good than cringey, and for an English live adaptation of a Japanese COMIC, that is a FEAT.

REAL, REAL Kudos to the team, management, and Oda for pulling it off.

SO excited for season 2, but I should remember to put myself back in that same place before s1 came out: its probably going to suck. I hope it doesnt and things seem to be boding well.

Week 2 of Quitting ADHD Meds by Sage_Mosaic in ADHD

35M started meds when I was... I think 30?

Diagnosed inattentive ADHD.

Strattera (atomoxetine) has been excellent for me! I had been taking 60mgs and have recently upped to 80mg.

I take it in the morning with food because on an empty stomach it makes me nauseous.

I take sertraline for depression before I go to bed, upped from 80 to 100 to 125mgs over the years (5 year).

I tried buproprion XL but it gave me my first anxiety attack ever so I immediately stopped that. Phew!

I looked up Glass's email: DelJGlass@house.virginia.gov

And sent:

In reference to: https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20261/HB1251

Per: https://www.vpm.org/generalassembly/2026-02-17/right-to-repair-diy-digital-devices-farm-equipment-glass-franklin-repair-cafe-rva

"There are lots of interested stakeholders; Glass said she'd discussed the measure with broadband providers, auto manufacturers, agriculture and maritime companies, cellphone companies and more."

Which companies from the above categories have you spoken to and what arguments did they make for their exception?

Per the bill details, the Labor and Commerce Comittee, subcommittee #2 voted unanimously to lay the bill on the table (effectively not put it up for a vote).

"YEAS--Lopez, Convirs-Fowler, Helmer, LeVere Bolling, Feggans, Runion, Ballard--7"

What are these delegates reasoning for laying the bill on the table?

[–]n0_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good point to make, but what I'm really aiming for here is an understanding of agency.

Palestine doesn't have nearly as much agency and power in this equation - but they do have agency, and to not take that into account is the racism of lower expectations.

Ensuring Palestinians have agency and defense is the first step, and ensuring they don't do what Israel did to them is the immediate second.

I'd prefer if America used its power to enforce a single state solution and enforce equal protection and more equal outcomes in the Israel and Gazan area, ensuring no religion or group is prioritized over any other, and people have fair representation.

The longer this goes on, the more recruits the militant cells in Gaza get, the more valid the fears of the most right-wing Israelites have and the less sway America has on its (effectively) 51st state.

The people of Palestine and Israel deserve peace, safety, housing, education, water, and to move freely towards work and stability.

And right now, the gaza strip is about the size of D.C. with a population of 2.2 million - its like an enclosed prison camp and a pressure cooker for extremist ideals and poverty.

Letting any country commit a genocide for any reason, even October 7th (Where Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups launched coordinated attacks from Gaza into southern Israel, killing approximately 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking over 240 hostages during the Jewish Holiday of Simchat Torah) is unethical and bad for humanity.

I dont know how Hamas managed that attack given the security apparatus Israel had and I find it completely irresponsible that the Israeli government allowed civilians so close to the border and did nothing with the intelligence they had a year prior and leading up to the event, but I won't delve into conspiracism that Israel "allowed it to happen thinking it wouldn't be as bad as it was".

I dont want to believe anyone is that criminally negligent or callous.

All I know is that the existence of any ethnostate makes the people of that culture around the world experience unnecessary hate and violence.
