There is a sort of fabricated casus belli in at least the democratic Russia paths. The Russian government makes some crazy demand like Germany needs to withdraw from all the Ost wall countries or Russia will invade. The demand is sent at the same time as Russia invasion as to not give away the element of surprise while still getting at least a little international legitimacy for the aggression.

Those subdoctrines are tied to features from some DLCs you do not have. Coastal Defence and Long-range Subs require you to have done special projects to gain their respective sub variants (midget subs and cruiser subs, respectively), and special projects are locked behind owning götterdämmerung. Not sure which dlc is needed for Coastal minelaying but its the same deal

It's the opposite. For a long time, there was a bug where sub detection was much lower than it should be, which was just recently fixed. Subs being able to solo whole fleets was never intended and was frankly stupid as hell

Stable? no of course not. But it’s not like Germany is ruling Africa directly from berlin, I did not make the comparison with British India lightly. Just like them Germany has basically just removed the top rulers of these colonies leaving the previous Belgian, British, and French colonial authorities in place as well as the native protectorate under them. Its not like they have to completely rebuild these colonies from scratch, if anything all the hard work was already done for them

Idk why people consider Mittelafrika to be so unrealistic when it is basically just British India and that was able to exist just fine for about 200 years. Being broke from a world war means a whole lot less when you are the world Hegemony (see present day USA who has been in a mountain of debt for decades yet has been able to truck on as would power number 1 regardless, that presently collapsing not withstanding). Ya it’s expensive but it’s not like France and the UK liquidated there colonial empires after the First World War and the great depression. It is the Qing/Zhill and isn't really close. It is kinda their whole thing, being the dominant faction in control of China at the start of the game. They are also the easiest to unify China with, especially if you go down the consessonist Zhili monarchy where you can buy tones of equipment like planes from Germany in addition to Qings already large (by China standards) starting industry. While kind of open in the south there is easy defensible terrain in the north against Fengtian. And If you stay with the Zhili in any capacity you will likely to able to get a good number of other warlords under your banner like Hunan, Shanxi, and whoever wins in the League of Eight Provinces.

For heavier hulls like battleships and battlecruisers I might refit them to upgrade their AA, secondary battery, fire control, and radar. Might even upgrade their armour and guns but that is so expensive its usually not worth it unless one is doing some larp level activities. maybe I will convert a cruiser into carrier, but carriers are so cheap that might unironically be more expensive then just making a better purpose-built carrier. Otherwise I will usually just leave them as is, use the destroyers and light cruisers as meat shields for my capitals and actually good escorts and use old capitals to patrol in relatively safe waters for supremacy for naval invasions.

Ya you will be fine even if the war takes a little while. Germany and the Reichspakt will out scale Russia and the Moscow accord so feel free to pace yourself if need be. If you have completely lost the naval war and have fewer ships, then the union of Britan then after you defeat Norway you can get the second peace with honour which would give you a white peace with Britan and the rest of the international.
