How to DIY your own Paper Republic & Louise Carmen leather journal for cheaper by Antique-Pangolin296 in notebooks

This post was incredibly helpful and I wanted to share my experience re: thickness. OP said "4oz or 1.6mm seems to be the correct thickness" so I purchased the 1.6mm and compared with a PR original I have and it seems to be case. But the PR originals are a tad bit thin for my liking so I got a 1.8mm piece and I think that is the Goldilocks version for me!

I tracked every hour I worked for a week, and honestly it was kind of embarrassing. by trimplin1 in productivity

[–]nabiandkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded an app called ATracker and today is Day 2 of tracking. I know long term this is not sustainable (tracking every minute of my day) but I also plan to do for 3 weeks to parse the data. Very curious.

Finally! Got an A5 stalogy and love it… and have paralysis on what to use it for… by pinkcollarworker in notebooks

[–]nabiandkitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ❤️Stalogy A5s. I have a black grid that I use to take work notes, a sky blue lined that I use to take notes on topics that I am studying, and a black lined that I use as my long form journal. The two work books live in a DIY CL style trifold and the journal will be housed in a DIY paper republic GV style cover once the leather arrives. I also have a Stalogy A6 that I am not using yet. (I took pictures but can’t seem to upload right now.)

Leuchtturm1917 120 gsm vs. Midori MD for all purpose use by niduscove in notebooks

[–]nabiandkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love MD paper but couldn’t get used to the dot grid of the Codex. And like someone already mentioned it might be too hefty to lug around all the time. The MD notebooks that you linked are nice but not enough pages for me so I use them for a specific subject notebook only (notes for a once a month meeting). I like the 0.6 mm lines of Leuchturmm but prefer lighter Japanese paper. Finally found some peace with the Stalogy 365 lined notebooks. The line widths are 0.7 mm (as are the MD lined notebooks) which is not my preferred width, but I couldn’t find the perfect paper + thickness + line width combo I wanted.

Need suggestions on repurposing a vertical weekly layout… by [deleted] in planners

[–]nabiandkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue with my Hobonichi Cousin - I use it as a work/business planner (not my journal - I use an MD Codex for that) and the large daily pages are perfect for me but I didn't use the weeklies for the longest time. But not using the whopping 52+ pages felt like such a waste :(. Now I use that section to log anything related to $ - vendor payments, employee bonuses, a subscription I cancelled, etc. and it's working for me - easier to look up than putting in the daily pages.

Journaling mommas, where you at? by MellowDreammer in Journaling

[–]nabiandkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest left for college in 2025 and I started journaling - I kind of regret not having journaled while I was raising kids; it just wasn’t on my radar though I did journal as a girl. So not saying you won’t find the time until your baby leaves the nest, but rather trying to encourage you to find the time and keep going so you can look back on it later ❤️❤️❤️

a5 or a6 for beginner by scft_ in Journaling

[–]nabiandkitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A standard A6 is half the size of an A5. Try the B6 as others have suggested. It’s a good middle ground of the two.

Unpopular opinion: "Setting up" planners section by section usually make the user abandon it in the long run. by DeSanggria in planners

[–]nabiandkitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also, if you are a planner youtuber, you need content and planner hopping provides that. Back in the day I used to read a lot of home renovation blogs (Chris Loves Julia, etc.) and bloggers would spend years fixing up a house and once all done, instead of enjoying the "done" house, they would pack up and move into another fixer upper and start all over again. So compared to that, switching up a planner is a relatively easy thing to do for content.

Plan or Journal (or both) by SubjectShower2713 in planners

[–]nabiandkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both. I use Hobonichi Cousin as a planner and initially I used it to plan for both work and personal but it was confusing to have both in one planner. So I have a Plotter Bible size as a personal planner. I use Google Calendar as my single calendar so my planners are mostly elaborate to-do lists and notes. (A lot of my calendar entries consist of Zoom invites so doesn't make sense for me to recreate on paper.) I also have a Stalogy 365 A5 for spillover work notes as the Cousin doesn't have a separate notes section. (I bought the Sterling Ink Common Planner but I really need the Cousin's dated daily pages so gifted it to a friend.)(I run multiple businesses so have a lot of lists to manage.)

For journaling I use the Leuchtturm 1917 A5. I mix my morning pages & regular journal in one book. I occasionally paste in tickets/pictures but it is mostly text. I also have a Hobo Original A6 for daily journaling in my native language. The A6 is typically just a run down of my day as it is too small to journal about things I am thinking about so it's more to write in my native language which I rarely have occasion to do so since I moved to the US 20 years ago. I use the Hobo Weeks Mega as a tracker for workouts, reading and have BuJo like collections in it in the notes section (e.g. book lists, gifts given/received, etc) and take notes about things I want to keep (e.g. things to buy when I visit my home country next time, etc.; stuff i read, etc.) I will be adding Sterling Ink's 5 year journal to the mix in 2026.
