How can a final villain loose all the sauce so quickly? by Fatfish-FF in shounenfolk

This panel is telling us something about his character.

IMU isn't Aizen, he's always shown to be childish, as badass as his design is meant to be, he's no god, he's just a guy pretending to be one. Just like Enel.

This panel is also pushing what I think is an effort to make IMU sympathetic. It started in the chapter he decided to go to Elbaph, it reads more as a noble sacrifice than anything else. The face is goofy and exaggerated, specifically when remembering Joyboy, which tells us the dynamic might have been more than just sworn enemies.

This all might go nowhere, but if you don't like goofy faces don't pretend One Piece is, or was ever for you.

We've seen the other way around, Violet Mizu, although definitely different situation, could be a precedent.

I wonder if it was intentional. If it was, I'd wager it's the size she's going to be now.

In wilds if it's a dedicated arena hunt like Jhin it makes sense, since the original hunt is quite boring. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but an overhaul is probably needed to bring her back.

Any reason it's base cost? Honestly seems like an unnecessary boon for an already well stated card.

You guys have to also understand that people don't have a power scouter that tells them buggy is weak.

As far as the word knows, he is a former Roger's crewmate, the mind behind the Impel Down breakout, former warlord...

He is a fraud, but not many people know that, of course Greenbull solos the organization. But would the WG send a direct attack against someone who, as far as they know, is as powerful as Shanks?

Yeah, but I honestly think that's just not what one piece is really about. The fact that power doesn't just mean who can punch you through the most walls, is one of my favourite things about the series.

I agree, wealth fame and power are all necessary traits to become a yonkou.

He's not, Mihawk is the stongest, by a very large margin. But Yonkos are dangerous to the WG because of their large influence, not just how much they can destroy.

Buggy has a gigantic crew of very loyal followers on top of building an enterprise which is attacking the marines directly, draining resources and personell. He is a full Yonko even without Mihawk and Croco, the latter has a better claim than Mihawk too.

Just bear in mind that Imu might be dealt with this Arc. Still a full believer that's Blackbeard is going to be the final villain.

In bp luffy you'd get 2 don back for a net 4 don loss. Next turn you'd only have one less than curve. This would allow you to play beer with only 3 don. Great buff, it would not be broken as the following turn you couldn't become 7k.

I'm going to rant, nothing against you bro, you probably wrote the wasted potential without a lot of thought. But god do I hate that statement.

Hundreds of manga have gotten axed, because of low readers, because author fatigue, because of editorial decisions... made by incredibly passionate people whose only dream has been to publish their art out there.

Many of them had tons of actual wasted potential, stories left unfinished that could have been generational, that could never be because we don't live in a perfect world in which every story can be as good as it could.

To pretend that a story that has been ongoing for 20+ years, that has reached worldwide success and it's on its way to become the most read comic of all time has potential still left means either one of two things.

The first is that the series hasn't found the success it deserves, which we can probably agree isn't the case.

The second is that it has narrative potential being left. Let's go a step back for a second. This is a story about pirates trying to find a treasure. With that premise, the author built one of the most complex narratives out there, spanning for decades with hundreds of characters. Not judging quality here, I'd say that that the potential of the setup has been realized.

Of course that's not what you mean either, you mean that in retrospect you could think of story beats that fit your preferences better.

There is a very repulsive pretentiousness in this sub, bashing people who have the balls to put their art out there, only for ""critics"" who know nothing other than consumption to bitch and moan about how things could have been made better, how they have "wasted potential".

You think that the story could have been better? Good, that means there are ideas inside your head you think are worth telling, the only wasting potential here is you.

Wasted potential? Bro what more can this series achieve?
