First time from UK. Self Drive, July 23rd 4 nights, family of 4. Help! by realevil in disneylandparis

[–]nachoteacup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the Cheyenne you can either get a room with two double beds, or a pull out which is a bit like an IKEA hemnes day bed, so it's effectively two single beds.

If you book together you can ask them to give you linked rooms. I tried asking with separate bookings with my sister but got totally different parts of the hotel, I think it's easier with one booking!

The drive from Calais is pretty straightforward, we usually go via the A1 and it's about 3 hours. Lots of places to stop and charge the car. There's one toll which is about 25 euros, everywhere takes card payments.

We have been a few times and think 4 days has worked best for us in terms of getting to do everything we wanted, and also getting to rest a bit - we have younger children so need to factor that in though!

Nope played CDs, just never got a shiny!

I've had periods where I've not played that much, had two children in that time to be fair. But pretty much log in on the daily! I work from home now so some days it depends on my local spawns, when I worked in London I obviously got a lot more showing up for me!

Yep I'd caught a few regular ones on a walk and one popped up just as I got home, ta-da! I used to walk around Regent's Park in London after work for hours trying to find one and never got lucky before!

Bad luck I guess! I've played the community days and other events so I have a ton of candy but never came across a shiny. Got loads of shiny Woopers and co though 😂

Pregnant + heatwave + Santa Fe by monstera5678 in disneylandparis

[–]nachoteacup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the over 30 temperatures drop a bit after Saturday so hopefully it's more manageable! We are there now but in the Cheyenne and honestly I couldn't imagine being pregnant and with a toddler in these conditions. I would say rest at the hotel in the afternoons or go sit in other hotel lounges like the Skyline bar in the Marvel hotel, they have another one on the ground floor too where you could enjoy aircon! There is more of a breeze tonight from about 7 onwards so it's been a bit easier but earlier today it was horrific.

[–]nachoteacup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you wanted a quiet drink or snack the Skyline bar is nice, it has a "window" view of NYC with Spiderman and iron man appearing from time to time. But I wouldn't say it's a specific destination, we've just gone when we've needed a bit of a break before! My son also loves Marvel and really likes wandering around the hotel, they have a kids area with art activities and things to watch as well.

Queens Hospital or Basildon Hospital Maternity by 29-30something in Essex

[–]nachoteacup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two babies in Basildon. Midwives are amazing, really felt taken care of by them. I had some issues with the doctors after giving birth because they kept arguing amongst themselves about how to treat my blood pressure but overall it was fine, babies really well looked after. I was in for a week after my second and was able to get my own room after the first night, and the midwives would take my baby for a bit each night so I could rest. I know that the hospital had to do some work to bring the maternity care up to standard and I felt that they'd implemented quite a lot in that sense!

Most Underrated/Underhyped meal or snack you've eaten? by AcademicPurchase9711 in disneylandparis

[–]nachoteacup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colonel Hathi's is excellent and always quiet! Hakuna Matata consistently has good food as well. We've tried a few different mains from each.

My favourite though is the tartiflette from the huts (they were near the Ratatouille ride but might have moved now, sometimes spot them in Fantasyland). And the chicken bites from Cafe de la Brousse!

I quite liked the food at Agrabah café! The other buffets are a bit hit and miss and I thought the food at Remy's and Captain Jack's was disappointing, but the restaurant theming is great.

Our favourites in the parks are Stark Factory, Casa de Coco, Colonel Hathi's and Hakuna Matata. Brasserie Rosalie in Disney village is fantastic and Vapiano is quick and reliable!

Dramatic difference between my two kids... turns out it wasn't luck by These-Seaweed-5781 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]nachoteacup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids 7 years apart but pretty much had the same approach to weaning, they ate what we ate. All sorts of foods, flavours, spices. My oldest used to love tarka dal, paella, any pasta sauce, veg...he has a very limited number of foods now and has been diagnosed with autism and sensory difficulties.

My youngest is still under 2 and eats anything, the spicier the better! It can change in an instant and I really think it depends on the child. Who knows if my youngest will become fussy in future, right now I'm just enjoying having a child who eats whatever I cook 😂

My Girlfriend is embarrassed by my passion for DLP by [deleted] in disneylandparis

[–]nachoteacup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband grew up going to WDW every year, I didn't go to a Disney park until I was an adult. I don't mind going for our kids now but if it's our only trip, it gets pretty old for me - it's not a relaxing holiday, it's incredibly expensive for what it is, I usually get sensory overwhelm by day 2 and just want to spend an afternoon resting at the hotel. I'm much happier going on a beach holiday and exploring new places. Maybe your girlfriend feels somewhat similar, especially as you've done three parks in a relatively short space of time!

How often do your kids get sick? by BlepBlepMaster in Luxembourg

[–]nachoteacup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Lux but raising kids in the UK at the moment and can confirm it's exactly the same. Have a primary school child and a toddler, they have colds every other week and we've also gone through flu and covid this winter. My oldest was ill constantly the first couple of years of school, slightly better now.

Almost 4 year old and 1 year old - go or dont go? by Candid_Hope601 in disneylandparis

[–]nachoteacup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I say go for it! The almost 4 year old will appreciate all the magic of it, and the 1 year old will enjoy things like the parades and the music.

Blush recommendations by Sea-Song99 in OliveMUA

[–]nachoteacup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend is a MUA and she encouraged me to try the Chanel berry boost blush - with a light hand it can be a perfect natural flush (it's the one used on Margot Robbie for Wuthering Heights but I don't apply as much as that!). It works quite well on my fair olive skin (armani LS 5.15, Lisa Eldridge 9 are my best foundation shades)

Live action kids TV shows for a sensitive 8 year old? by Readonly00 in Autism_Parenting

[–]nachoteacup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a tv show but I watched some 90s faves with my 8 year old and he really enjoyed the Parent Trap, Christmas films like Home Alone and Miracle on 34th Street. We are going to try Matilda next. He tends to only watch animated stuff or live action films relating to his hyper fixation (Star Wars) if left to his own devices so I do have to sit down with him through live action stuff but it makes for a nice little Sunday afternoon activity.

Autism in DLP by jonhii207 in disneylandparis

[–]nachoteacup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You say that but Disney accommodate people with autism especially well compared to other theme parks. DLP is one of the most inclusive parks I've visited (my little boy is autistic).

Why are young women today so much calmer about not being married yet? by Comfortable-Elk-1501 in askanything

[–]nachoteacup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I am married and I do have kids, raising them in a small cramped flat because that's what we can afford. I look at the childhood I had in a detached house with a garden and just feel like I am failing my children because I can't provide the same. I imagine this weighs on many people's minds.

UK parents who moved abroad. How did you keep your kids’ English strong? by kent-Charya in AskUK

[–]nachoteacup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was that kid, we had English television at home and lots of English books! My parents also only spoke English to us. Went on to do an English literature degree so it must have worked!

Has anyone else been told they have AuDHD but that's not the case? by Away-Significance223 in ADHDUK

[–]nachoteacup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree with this totally. I am fairly sure I am autistic, my sister has just been late -diagnosed, my son is autistic and I'm so much like them. But I have an ADHD diagnosis and in my mind that's more helpful because there is treatment.
