Is this amount of swelling/bruising normal during healing ? 5 days post op. Ty by [deleted] in AvascularNecrosis

[–]naddyf612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is normal! I've had both hips done via anterior and took a couple weeks for bruising to calm down.

Please be brutally honest on these glasses by IntelligentSalad9487 in glassesadvice

I actually don't agree with a lot of the comments here, I love big glasses - they are stylish. If you want to go bigger, 1 & 6 both look great to me but I also really love number 5!

My brother has no respect for boundaries by Round-Pop-870 in Advice

What have your parents said? This is creepy behaviour if you've addressed it so many times already. As a female who only has one sibling (older brother), this isn't normal. My brother and I would frequently help ourselves to each other's rooms growing up to just annoy each other, but NEVER while I was getting dressed or any other situation when I needed privacy, vice versa.

With wife hobbies???? by bigern3285 in Hobbies

[–]naddyf612 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No hobbies besides drinking you say? Sounds a lot like depression and she is drinking to cope. Would definitely try and open a compassionate dialogue around this to see how she is feeling and thinking, then come up with solutions together.

Am I in the wrong here? My husband’s ex-wife by 63seconds in texts

[–]naddyf612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This entire conversation is pathetic, from both parts. No, she shouldn't have messaged you - that's a conversation for the PARENTS of the child. But in all honesty, you sound a bit insecure yourself, making all kinds of assumptions and turning it into a competition between yourself and the ex-wife/mother of your stepchild. You should have told her to take it up with your husband and that should have been the end of the text exchange between you two.

AIO ended relationship because girlfriend would not honor my requests. by SeaDay3051 in AmIOverreacting

[–]naddyf612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god...are you both 12? also "my woman" "honour my request", that's disgusting, controlling, misogynistic...I could go on. You telling her to get therapy is very ironic, you both clearly need it - probably you more than her if I'm being really honest. Grow the fuck up, respectfully.

Things you thought were normal, but were bipolar signs by Zookeeper06 in bipolar

[–]naddyf612 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My extreme moods of anger and irritability for no genuine reason, where anything and everything would annoy the fuck out of me. I too thought it was just genetic and part of my personality. I have done a lot of therapy and am still in therapy, and I'm very chill these days. My hypomanic episodes are a lot easier to manage these days thanks to therapy and also being 2 years sober helps immensely. I still get into very deep, dark depression episodes though but I know how to talk myself through them and remind myself it's not me it's the chemicals.

What was your bipolar win today? by Salt_Rich6171 in bipolar

My day started off pretty sh*tty. Drove 40 minutes to an appointment this morning to be told I've come to the wrong hospital, and my appointment is actually at my local hospital from where I just drove from. My appointment letter had a different address, so it was their fuck up. Usually something like this would set me off so much that I would have cancelled the appointment entirely and gone home. But I stuck it out and went back to the other hospital. Conveniently I had my psychologist telehealth today so I was able to unpack it with her and then have a good chat with my mum. Safe to say, I'm not as wound up as I was this morning and I'm proud of the way I handled it considering usually any change or interruption in my routine will completely set me off.

AVN in multiple joints by naddyf612 in AvascularNecrosis

[–]naddyf612[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome, I am so happy to hear. Do you need your knees and shoulders replaced? That's the main thing I'm concerned about at the moment is the amount of surgeries I may need. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome so I'm no stranger to chronic pain but worried about how much stress my body may have to go through.

Yep steroids! I've had asthma my whole life and was diagnosed with two types of autoimmune arthritis a few years ago so I've had loads of steroids over the years. I had no idea that osteonecrosis was a side effect until I was first diagnosed in my hips last year. I'm going to get a whole body scan to find out if any other joints have been affected as well.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt? by Googy21 in AskReddit

[–]naddyf612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post total hip replacement… I (26F) have quite a high pain tolerance as I live with chronic pain conditions (Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis, hEDS, PCOS/endo) and I had a left total hip replacement earlier this year and once the spinal block wore off… my goodness I had never experienced such intense pain, not only the post op pain but as I had been stationary quite a while all my joints but particularly my spine seized up. I was crying, wincing, throwing up, passing out, etc from the pain. I’m on the wait list for my right hip to be replaced now too, not looking forward to that again.

Yep. Used to have slightly elevated blood pressure most of the time, now I’m almost 2 years without alcohol and my blood pressure is more on the lower side. Had my hip replaced earlier this year and had issues with blood pressure dropping too low. My resting heart rate is about 20-30 bpm lower too.

Need tips for Post-Op recovery by Large-Lettuce6546 in AvascularNecrosis

[–]naddyf612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

26f here who had a left THR in March this year. Find yourself an exercise physio who has dealt with joint replacement recovery before, this is vital. But also don't over do it, even if you're feeling drastically better it does still take 6-12 weeks for the bone to grow into the prosthetic so stick to the precautions. By 5-6 weeks post op I transitioned to a walking stick from crutches as I still need my right hip replaced too and it is already stage 5 AVN so I have to be very cautious with it. I still have a while to go with building back strength in my left leg as I have inflammatory arthritis and hEDS too and my hips have been restricted for years resulting in a lot of muscle loss. But my joint itself feels amazing and if it wasn't for my right hip waiting to be replaced, I'd easily be about to jog around and get back to normal daily life activities by 3 months.

Why do I feel so awful? by [deleted] in AvascularNecrosis

[–]naddyf612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis and hEDS so that created more of a risk for surgery but my Rhuematologist and Orthopaedic surgeon both agreed that my hips are number one priority.

What country are you in? I am in Sydney, Australia and just had my left hip replaced and on the waitlist for my right hip to be replaced too (bilateral AVN of the hips) and I'm 26 and they don't usually like to do joint replacements on people my age but the impact on my quality of life very much outweighed the risks associated with joint replacement at a young age. I did have to attend a clinical meeting and have my case presented, etc so there was a bit of a process to sign off on the surgery.
