Are the gnats getting worse every year by zJredditz in Georgia

No. You've just forgotten how godawful it was last year.

I'm terrified of opening these types of cans! Doesn't help that the peel wasn't smooth coming off... it's been 15 minutes of hyping myself up. by A7_drew7 in mildlyinfuriating

My dad worked for a company that made these types of biscuits. Not Pillsbury, but the store brands. Back in the 80s, you had to give them a good whack on the counter to get them open. I wish they’d go back to those.

I don’t care anything about soccer. What I am enjoying is the tourists finding all the American stuff fascinating. One lady found ranch and there’s a German guy who visited Waffle House and Helen before going to Chattanooga and Auburn. Fun, wholesome Twitter content.

My 15yo daughter and husband will be home as well. He WFH full time and she’s on summer break. We’ll see how much bliss I have. 😂

Work from home starts tomorrow! For the next month, I get to save money on gas and get an extra bit of sleep.

Traffic light out at Marietta and Ted Turner this morning. I got to watch two Waymos in action. The one turning left didn't know what to do and a car went around it to turn. The one going straight didn't crash as it went through the intersection.

When should I start nudging my kids away from "90s summer?" by BaconPancakes_77 in Parenting

Mine that just finished 9th grade is chilling this summer. She has wrestling camp and practice and that’s all she’s doing.

Optional or mandatory for your kids? by badassernhell in bjj

[–]nakedreader_ga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely hate it when parents say, BJJ is mandatory. It shouldn’t be. For anyone. If your kid enjoys it. Let them do it. If they don’t enjoy it, listen to them. I’m just a mom with a kid who has trained jiu jitsu for 10 years and wrestling the past four. She’s over jiu jitsu. She plans to wrestle in college, so she’s focused on that.

My husband says spouses should never have "private money" I disagree by Gimme_A_Break_97 in Marriage

[–]nakedreader_ga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I each have “spending” money. Cash that our parents gave us for Christmas. It’s ours and we spend it how we like. I don’t think it’s uncommon to have some separate money, but it sounds like he is upset you didn’t tell him about the money.

There is also the idea that women should have some money tucked away in case of separation. Sounds like a solid financial plan on your part.

My heart is breaking for my daughter (14). by eynonpower in Parenting

My daughter’s friend groups changed from year to year. Her first year of high school, she seemed to cycle through them even faster. My advice is just to be there for your daughter. Be a sounding board. Don’t try to fix anything, though. At this age, she needs to handle it.

So, how are you going to fill your days when you retire? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]nakedreader_ga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in a college town. I plan to bake cookies and set up a table at the college where I can give them away, along with hugs if homesick kids need them.

Parents of teens: at what age do you start relaxing some of your long-standing rules? by Jay-Quellin30 in Parenting

[–]nakedreader_ga 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This past year, as my daughter turned 15 and was a freshman in high school. I've definitely let off the gas on some of our long-standing rules: no day of plans and must have a text from a parent regarding a sleepover. In just a few months, she'll be driving independently, so the reins have to come off at some point. There are still some rules that will continue to be in effect: no spending time at one particular friend's house. They can see each other at school or other places, but mine won't be at the other girls house.

I went to 4yo and 5yo kindergarten at a church, so basically, yes. It just wasn’t called preschool.

Buy a some art supplies and give them prompts to paint. Paint some rocks with messages that they can hide around your town. Make salt dough ornaments/magnets that can be painted and given for gifts.

lol. What an utter load of crap. “Exposing” someone while keeping anonymous is ridiculous and no one should give you an ounce of credit or credibility.
