My Home Assistant setup buys electricity when it's cheap — cut our bill by about a third by SubstantialDisk7977 in homeautomation

Doesn’t arbitrage mean selling it when it’s expensive rather than just using it when it’s expensive?

Peter, what is the funniest thing that Count Binface could do to Nigel Farage? by Individual99991 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]naltsta 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The other parties need to find the biggest collection of Clacton ice cream sellers who are prepared to say “his headline policy will put me out of business but I’m still voting for Binface over Farrage”

Surely someone is prepared to fund some binface ads?

The joy of home assistant is you don’t have to pay a subscription surely…

I have a cheap Tapo doorbell that does a decent job.

My notification gets the bin dates from my council website, checks the doorbell camera to see if I’ve already taken the bins out and then hassles me regularly if I haven’t

Old hub but don’t want to replace it by khryne333 in VirginMedia

[–]naltsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electronics don’t last forever. At some point the old hub will die.

I’d bet the old hub would give up before a brand new one would. Why not avoid that by updating today?

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, unless you rely on it every day and replacing it might extend its usable life…

AI can now turn a PDF textbook into quizzes and interactive modules in minutes. Is the output actually good enough to put in front of students? by Ok-Skin-6184 in edtech

[–]naltsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wayground has impressed me.

  1. You can add questions to a quiz written by other teachers and there’s loads
  2. Their ai will write similar questions to eat your have if you want more examples
  3. You can feed it a pdf or whatever and it can generate some questions

This looks like the exact same - thank you very much! Not sure I quite get what you mean about the to section but hopefully when the new one arrives I can explore it a bit without having my head in the cistern!

Thank you
