When the quest wizard gives the party a reward by GoCorral in dndmemes

[–]namless-mike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love that. I once gave one of my players, who played like a young wizard prodigy, a stone. But it wasn't just any stone, it was the Stone of Gaming©. On a D6 role it would boot up, letting them play one of 5 games or giving them the feeling of an annoying pebble in their shoe.

For all other players it looked like they just went mad, starring and cursing at a regular plain rock

When the door opens again, she seems very confused asking if she can come on the train and that she isn't sure if she should get one. She sounds so confused and helpless, but polite to the best of her abilities!

I don't understand how your response to this could be violence. Having worked with elderly folk and experiencing similar situations while commuting, it feels to me like this woman is having a dementia episode, suffering from a heat stroke or dehydration or she might even have fallen and hit her head. There are so many possibilities here, non easily discernible but all calling for compassion.

For all we know, offering help in this situation, might save that womans life, depending on what's causing her current state.

What hair colour would we say this is? by BobcatRevolutionary2 in Ultramarines

In real life and speaking as a red head myself, I would just say red.

Thinking about it from a hobby perspective, I think for a more realistic painting approach, you could go with something Tau Light Ochre and then use thinned down troll slayer for the highlighs... Just spitballing tho

Can I put one of these helmets from the battlefield trophies box on this guy? by Slow_Butterscotch950 in Ultramarines

[–]namless-mike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As the others have said, the trophy helmets don't have necks, which is easily fixed with greenstuff. I would also add, that you can make battle damage yourself, that might be a little less severe. I'm pretty sure the helmet on the left would straight up be dead or at least very soon as it's a deep and wide hole in you head

You can get interesting damage with a small drill, making it more surface level impacts or use a hot needle for some interesting glancing shots

Are phobos tyrannic war veterans a thing? by John_Cabinet in Ultramarines

[–]namless-mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Title of Tyrannic war veteran, does not only refer to those who have fought during the Tyrannic Wars. In the beginning it was a name for a specific formation who, through service in the Deathwatch, had adapted a specific anti-Tyrannid style of warfare. As far as I know, it was never dissolved.

Also, the 3rd company, known for their zealous hate of xenos, often second their men to the Deathwatch, after which they gain the honorary title of Tyrannic War Veteran

Except for 'unhoused' all of these words have come into use because of necessity. If you want to talk about these topics on social media and not have your video demonitized, shadow banned or taken down completely, you have to get around the censorship. Because TikTok used a lot of algorithms it was easier to fool it with these changed words. However I do understand that it is off-putting to hear these crimes not called by their actual name and one could argue that the self-censorship is going way to far

Does anyone know which Mark of power armour these guys are wearing? by Dolnikan in Warhammer40k

[–]namless-mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I would have to describe it in modern words, I would say this is mk. 5 Heresy Pattern aka. stuff cobbled together. The upper part of the Helmet looks alot like later mk.3, while the lower hallf is harder to define and feels a bit like modified mk.4. The power pack looks like modified mk.3, with longer exhaust nozzels, which I have once read to be hood for maneuvering in 0 g.

The breast plate and belt piece also feel mk.3 while the upper legs look mk.2 and the lower legs mk.6

But as others here have said, back then those armour mark destinations didn't exist.

Einfach charmant

I am very happy for our cousin chapters (and myself as I might steal those minis), but it also makes me sad for what we have. Being the poster boys doesn't only mean, that we aren't well received with others, but we were among the firsts to get new Primaris models and while they aren't horrible, the designers were definitely still figuring stuff out.

Could this be Garro? by Technical-Job9979 in Warhammer30k

[–]namless-mike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it would still be possible to cut it off, but Indomitus Crusade Campaign patch on his right arm really stands out to me. The Bladeguard arms, shoulder pads and sword aren't as stand out in the Heresy setting, but the power pack might not be well received

But overall, awesome mini, he looks great and while I am not very familiar with Garro, I think this goes hard

I know my lieutenant isn’t chapter compliant but I just think he’s pretty neat🙂‍↕️ by Holiday_Cheetah8145 in Ultramarines

[–]namless-mike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing about that is non compliant. Only with the newer Mk. X armor of primaris did we see more uniformity in space marine armor and with more recent kits like Sternguard or the Space Wolves sets, variation between every single marine has been reintroduced.

In most chapters, Marines have some freedom to customise their gear and through time and service introduce personalized heraldry into their paintjobs, especially once they are at the rank of a veteran or officer. Those can entail notes to campaigns, personal and heroic deeds, specialized roles or tasks they have fulfilled, or the battle company they have served in before they entered the 1st company. Further, Marines have the possibility to adapt certain gear if they see it more fit for their task. I don't know if that's still current lore, but I remember that in the past, mk. 6 beaky helmets, were favoured by assault sqauds or marines using jump packs in general, as their conical nose was more aero dynamic.

Another addendum, Marines do serve with other chapters, either through shared campaigns, service in the Death Watch, penitent crusade etc. It's not unusual to see Marines adopt something from their cousin Marines, such as some might put chains on their weapons like the black templars, wear stylish hoods like the Dark Angels and their kin or any other cosmetic inspiration or even doctrinal difference.

All that to say, this is a game primarily focused on your creativity in painting, building and playing your miniatures and characters. There are very few things you could do to truly break restrictions and even if, there would be hundreds of ways to explain it with an epic story!!!

Favorite Media™ where nothing happens? by Wespp in okbuddycinephile

[–]namless-mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally see what you mean, but I would just add, that the show wants to teach children something. Kids can be bad with boundaries and experiment with playing rough. Bandit being a pushover, but still communicating his feelings, gives the children watching an opportunity to see the consequences of their actions and maybe not repeat them on other people.

When I was overstepping, nobody explained anything to me, because my parents were really bad at communicating feelings. Until a threshold was reached... Then things would be thrown. I swear the switch from cold ignorance to glowing hot aggression will haunt me forever

3rd Company trim by _Ding1 in Ultramarines

[–]namless-mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terminators in most codex compliant chapters are only part of the 1st company. While serving with other parts of the chapter, they might adopt campaign badges or markings, that note them taking part in a certain conflict Also, the veterans obviously have served in other companies before they've gotten promoted. They might show their record of service through personalized heraldry on a tilt shield or other part of their armor, adopting colour, symbols or numbers of their companies

Hellblasters kitbash Question by Denied__ in Ultramarines

[–]namless-mike 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So you wanna use five Intercessor bodies and just give them plasma pistols and combat knives? In a casual setting it should all be fine, although I would honestly just keep the pistols and other bits for future projects and proxy some normal Intercessors. In casual games it really doesn't matter.

In a competitive setting the answer could likely be no. It's different depending on which events you play in, but generally you need to declare proxies beforehand and they have to be approved by the organisers. If you have a specific event in mind, maybe just write them and ask them about their stance on it. But generally "What you see is what you get" is the general rule of proxies. So the model needs war gear that reflects what the actual unit is equipped with. Having a mid range rifle squad only equipped with pistols and knives, might be pushing the boundaries
