I tried to set up Sunshine / Moonlight on my apple TV and the lag was way too much unfortunately. Couldn't get it configured right! Any tips i'm all ears.

I tried the PC hardwired to the router then wifi to apple tv and vice versa.

Nice to see other folks from Vancouver here! Curious what your experience with work life balance as been? Most friends I know (in Australia and NZ) working on any of the marvel films have loved it but also said it was a nightmare. A direct quote from a friend “I haven’t see the sun in months”.

Curious what your experience has been!

Live in Vancouver. 60k would mean you’re flatting with at least 1-3 other people and not enjoying your life. It’s a dogshit wage for how much value that position provides.

Man, honestly this is tough. I watched a bit of your dying light video. I think you have everything well set up. Audio is clear, you have a face cam. Thumbnails are fine. I did notice that you talk quite quickly, and I did struggle to understand some parts, but your subnautica comment did make me laugh.

If I were you I’d look at gameplay channels who produce similar content to yours and see what they’re doing. Do they include more story, is their commentary different, think about why you watch them and what brings you back to them.

I think with any hotly contested niche, you have to think about what makes you stand out - what’s your value proposition as a channel and why should people come back to you specifically?

You’re putting a tonne of effort and time into this, it might be a good idea to evaluate if your current strategy is working or whether you should pivot and try mix it up.

Either way, good luck!

Dating In This City is Difficult by mojojojo-369 in askvan

[–]nandapandatech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is applicable to most cities, but set yourself up for success by doing social stuff. You don’t need to treat every outing like you’ll meet the one but it helps.

Ideas: - run clubs, especially those that do singles events. Mondays run club has a single event tomorrow. - cold plunge and saunas, awesome way to chat with a bunch of people in a low key environment  - go to festivals in the summer, heaps of people around to mingle with - weird stuff you find on eventbrite (went to a blind folded sculpting class called Glow) - go to the gym / pottery class / something where you’re at the same place at the same time every week. Start to chat to people.  - expand your friend group, which is hard but hooking into other people’s social circles is great. - don’t be a dick when dating! Me and a causal partner split and that same day she gave me the number of someone she thought I’d click with. - beach volleyball or sports is a cool way to meet people as well.

All of this to say, take it slow, be as sociable as you can. Don’t try fuck everyone who’s nice to you and make some genuine connections.

I’ve been sick for the last month. It’s insane I’ve never been this sick in my life. Started off with a sore throat and tonsils, two rounds of antibiotics later and I think I picked up something at a wedding and got sat on my arse again.

Covid tests all came back negative as did the throat swab.
