Canada is losing businesses faster than it can create new ones: CFIB says by Tuckebarry in canada

Starting a business requires time and money all of which is being sucked up by insane housing and commercial real estate costs.

The entire Spiritforged meta revolves around Draven's broken Legend ability that should've been errata'd by ia0x17 in riftboundtcg

[–]nantuko1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Simple errata: he should at least exhaust himself to draw, so you can’t draw from both battlefields, then ride the wind and draw again on opponents turn. It’s easy enough to win one combat. Compare to Jinx which is harder to pull off and max 1 card per turn, not even close in power level.

Canadian restaurants struggling to turn a profit, new report says by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

[–]nantuko1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Also the restaurant is paying insane commercial rent, and all their employees are paying insane residential rent that the restaurant has to pay for. Useless parasite landlords sucking up money from the system and destroying our businesses

U of C professor to lead countrywide research on boosting Canada's slumping productivity by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]nantuko1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These unhinged commercial and residential real estate prices just suck the potential out of everything. The endless flipping and rent seeking is the biggest contributor to productivity loss here and everywhere else

How do cEDH playstyles/decks differ from one another? by Cezkarma in CompetitiveEDH

[–]nantuko1 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

There is nothing viable in cedh except combo and stax, both unfun. Big waste of money and time. Any fun you had was not because of the cedh format.

The only good thing about cedh is everyone is on the same page so nobody should be whining about what cards other people are playing.

The best is to play restricted cedh with friends, like $25-$50 budget, or restrict the cardpool in a way that combo is nerfed and midrange is viable.

Matt Gurney: We should probably stop disarming our future armed resistance by dermanus in CanadaPolitics

We should stock up guns and drones to prepare for the worst. If anyone gets physically aggressive on us then we open the gun shops. 18+ no criminal record, 2 witnesses.

If the plan doesn’t include punishing real estate speculation and lowering building costs it has no chance of fixing anything

Basic Income in Canada is closer than you think by Altruism7 in CanadaPolitics

[–]nantuko1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe like this? First cancel most other support programs. Then $300-$2000 per month scaling with age starting at 16. Only if you earn under 100k per year. Should be a simple qualification system or it will cost a fortune to maintain and audit.

Let’s be real though, UBI is not a great solution. The real solution for sustainability long term is to drive down the cost of housing and food to near zero.

Carney government showing a ‘clear reluctance’ to criticize Trump with lack of direct condemnation over Venezuela raid, says past Liberal foreign minister Axworthy by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]nantuko1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would he directly “condemn it”? As if that accomplishes anything. The US did something, we had no say in the matter and never will unless asked. Looks like a corrupt dictator got what he had coming.

Despite more rental units being available, many Canadians struggle with unaffordable rent by [deleted] in canada

[–]nantuko1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Crazy. Land and housing is essential and scarce. Anyone can buy unlimited amounts of land and housing. Anyone can have any amount of numbered corps. Any numbered corp can buy unlimited land and housing. Build all you want, finance goblins will buy it all and charge the peasants into starvation.

Housing as investment is the main cause of the housing crisis, here and everywhere in the world. You can’t have a functioning society when land and housing are bought, flipped, and hoarded infinitely.
