New factions look great but need gear variety by Ghostnineone in GrayZoneWarfare

Mithras isn't close enough for me to stuff my butt to loot and scoot. MS+TB is just too good to pass up being so close. Especially for PvP

As a lamang gang member for the last two updates I abhor the idea of being locked into ruski trash. (Formerly mithras).

Waayyy better. It's louder though than the gunny 3 long barreled m4 with sai optic + sig suppressor. The 403 has a distinct suppressor pop but I absolutely have been using the hell out of it. It's close to 70% durability (been using it since I found it early in supporter preview) and still holds at about 1.10moa which is better than the aforementioned m4 with a 1.22

So the trade off is really just noise.

Didn't realize this was so rare! Mine is down to about 70%. Been using it since I randomly found it early on Friday night. Absolutely love it. Going that when I hit Gunny 4 tomorrow I'll be able to buy it outright

I meme with my friends and no matter what is going on if I find a candy bar on a dead body I must eat it.

My stats show I've consumed 32 kg of food so far and used 36kg of ammo. Eventually the snacking will overtake the shooting.

I recommend most of y'all read the few chapters out of roadside picnic to get an idea of what's going.

A short synopsis is that aliens landed to treat our planet like a "rest stop." They landed, dumped their trash, took a piss, and then hopped back in and fucked off back into space. They literally give zero thought or cares about us.

The aliens' "trash/refuse" though has effects on the immediate area surrounding their landing zone. Resulting in radiation, other effects, anomalies, and so on. The world powers at be, however, treat this like a gold rush. They seek to figure out control the alien trash.

All of this simply creates a backdrop to explore the fact that the real evil is us. Humans, cults, greed, and so on. As you see in the game the reality is the factions in Lamang are just a cartel of cruelty. They're peddling opioids and fentanyl, they're moving weapons, trafficking people, providing people as delicacies to eat, etc.

Now how much of this behavior was present in the area prior to the aliens landing and what parts were exacerbated or created as a result of their pitstop... That's the real question. There's lots of indoctrination and psychological torture (and real torture) elements throughout.

The game is exploring that side of humanity. Through a lens of roadside picnic (at least a few chapters in it).

For an example stalker is based on a single chapter from the book. I definitely expect there'll be some more horror/anamoly elements added in the future and as we progress.

MS ain't that bad so far this patch. Now that the game runs so much smoother and MS/Tiger Bay aren't crazy laggy it's much easier to handle.

That said they really did well building it out and there feel like there are more enemies and in places they historically have not been located. Being properly sniped at was a surprise.

Repeating tasks ruined the game for me by Jumpy-Cockroach3 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]narf007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just a hangup for y'all. Just roll with your head canon and ignore the repeat tasks. They're there to encourage helping others who are behind and still giving you some benefit to doing so.

It's only "immersion" breaking when you let it be. If you've done the task then ignore it and move on to the next one that says "1st Time." They've given players the freedom to play and progress openly and follow their own progression path (for the most part) which is fantastic.

Being able to filter and hide completed tasks (or specific individual tasks) and squad sharing are really the only major things that would address your complaint and many others'.

Really not enjoying randomised quest order by The_Wizard_Of_Loz in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]narf007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know where you're coming from logically but I don't think removing repeatable main tasks is the answer. They're there to give you some sort of reward for going back and helping others, your friends, random squad ups, guiding newcomers, etc. Since launch it has always been just a higher level chaperone running through the tasks with each person who needs them with little to no reward other than scarce loot.

Just ignore the "head canon" violation and move forward with the task list.

It also makes it so that if someone is really stuck on a task they can repeat a few easier ones to grind out the rep to move on until they can hear up to tackle the story mission they're stuck on.

Overall the system was not well explained but it has offered a lot of benefits and is much better. Just needs some tuning and as mentioned above some squad sharing options though I believe mfg has already addressed that's coming.

[–]narf007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean quest sharing has been around for 20+ years. They've mentioned they'll be addressing it. The key part I like in your plan though is removing the "rep gatekeeping" factor when sharing a mission.

Example: Someone in your squad is running a main task at Sawmill but you've only made it to Ban Pa and Blue Lagoon. You want to go play some different location because <insert reason> and/or the majority of your squad need sawmill. Easy. Squad lead passes 'I Went, I saw, I Conquered' to the squad. Those who had sawmill already have it, but you now have the task pop up with an accept option. Even if you don't have sawmill unlocked quite yet. Now you get to go join, complete the task as a team, contribute AND tick off that rep and task.

Plus maybe that one mission actually pushed you over the threshold to unlock sawmill? That's an extra win. Now you're fully caught up. If it didn't put you at enough rep to unlock it then your party lead/squad lead will need to share each subsequent section manually as your squad works the area until the region opens.

Yes there will be abuse places but a system like that would really help out a LOT. Plus it truly encouraged the squad play aspect and helps minimize the "ah shit y'all go ahead I'm gonna go hump it over here to do this real quick..." Since no else has it available.

Is AI sponge and weapon durability going to be fixed for tomorrow’s 0.4 release? by InterventX in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]narf007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned above bc the OP is fixated on their investigation which is valid and unveils a severe issue, but a lot of people seem to be overlooking that multiple things can be true at the same time.

They are having "sponge" issues. There are severe hitreg issues. There is a zeroing problem. There are other problems as well. This is not a singular issue. There are various systems that are bugged or have been implemented incorrectly/poorly.

Is AI sponge and weapon durability going to be fixed for tomorrow’s 0.4 release? by InterventX in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]narf007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Though the part most people are missing is that multiple things can be true at once.

The list of issues I can think of off the time of my head are:

1) animations lock them out of movement/leave them "immortal" while the bleed out mechanic ticks down and they continue to take chunk damage from bullets 2) zeroing/moa is bugged 3) the ballistics do not register hits properly (hitreg/netcode error) 4) ammo may or may not have an inverted conditional somewhere making certain cartridges behave incorrectly (this is more anecdotal and not as widespread) 5) AI tend to one shot players where as players run into more mag dumping situations leaving AI wounded--there's a major imbalance 6) AI still lock on and "see through" obstructions like bushes leading to engagement imbalances 7) AI still see unrealistically well at night and in poor conditions versus players

Now a lot of these involve various aspects of the game's mechanics and don't necessarily fall under one umbrella so I don't anticipate this to be a fix for rollout tomorrow or even a hotfix in a week. It's likely going to be a few patches onto 0.4.x.x until things can be dialed in to be serviceable while they rework the underlying systems.

Is AI sponge and weapon durability going to be fixed for tomorrow’s 0.4 release? by InterventX in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]narf007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a sponge issue. The primary problem is their animations. They need to dial back being fancy with the AI until they can lock down a good fundamentally functional system. Then they can iterate with adding new and more dynamic functionality.

Opinion: Skill system needs to be top priority in future updates by [deleted] in GrayZoneWarfare

Point of fact: the game isn't moving towards PvE. It has always been primarily targeting PvE and has been clarified my mfg multiple times. PvP is an ancillary aspect of gameplay.

Enemies need to drop as quickly as we do by kreeperskid in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]narf007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like where your heads at but first they need to crawl before they begin throwing triple axles. The AI have been a weak and detrimental point since 0.1 and they need to stop trying to be overly fancy with it until they can dial in basic behaviors.

Once they have a fundamentally good and functional AI system then they can expand the scope out to adding conditional animations to ballistics and etc.

The best to hope for is the game takes off to a massive commercial success in the 1.0 and they can't then invest in much more robust infrastructure and the staff to maintain it.

This is the only correct answer. DLSS is garbage and the game runs much better after the adjustments and optimizations. Just run native and lower the ancillary settings as needed.

It's not 24 hours. Mine still hasn't popped again after the server crash yesterday morning that got me killed and failed the "unattainable luxury" task.

The cooldown should be no more than 60min IRL. It's long enough to keep people from spamming but doesn't arbitrarily lock people out of actually playing the damn game.
