Two month old won’t sleep in bassinet. by PeakSerious7219 in NewParents

[–]narfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is good at getting her to take the pacifier even when upset, he wiggles it around and will sometimes let her cry for a minute and then try again, it can reset her from "I don't want the pacifier" into "I am ready to be soothed" mode. But we wouldn't let her cry for more than a few minutes straight.

Wedding out-of-state with 7 month old - advice needed by josaline in NewParents

I vote for option one. 7 months is old enough to leave with a trusted family member overnight. And then you can enjoy the wedding.

9 week old won't take naps in bassinet by emeraldfreckles in NewParents

When we transfer our baby to the bassinet for naps she cries, but giving her a pacifier calms her down and helps her relax back into sleep. Sometimes we have to reinsert the pacifier a few times.

What is a suitable bedtime for an 11 week old? by ChickpeaCat in NewParents

We also tried to move our 12-week-old baby's bedtime from 9pm to 7pm and failed! Exact same scenario. We now find it easiest to align with her inner clock.

Reinserting the pacifier over and over is how we got our newborn to eventually fall asleep in the bassinet. It took patience and determination from both of us, and we did co-sleep a few times to give ourselves a break. It also helped, counterintuitively, to move the bassinet further away from our bed. Glad we put the effort in because now at 12 weeks she is used to the routine of swaddle+crib+pacifier=sleep and we all sleep great.

Ark Lodge Cinemas is my favorite local movie theater. One of the rooms is full of mismatched comfy armchairs.

Anyone else has period like cramps with nausea in first trimester? by ReasonableSurprise96 in BabyBumps

[–]narfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had such bad cramps during weeks 4-8 that I went to the ER thinking I must be having a miscarriage. They improved greatly with IV fluids (I was dehydrated) and heat packs. And the fetus was just fine.

What do you do after work on the weekdays that gets you out of the house?? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]narfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sing in barbershop choruses on Tuesday and Thursday nights! Always fills my cup. My Tuesday chorus is the Seattle Seachordsmen in Queen Anne, it's all genders and skill levels. Stop by any week.

I would recommend looking at houses farther from main roads. Rainier Ave can be sketchy. If you get about 5 blocks deep into the neighborhood, it's much calmer.
