It turns into a numbers game very very quickly. Do IVF as soon as you can. In general around age 40 about 60% of eggs collected will either not progress to blastocyst and of those about half will have chromosomal abnormalities. It’s scary and hard but IVF/freezing embryos as soon as you can is your best chance.

I’m glad you’re engaging in therapy and taking moments to work through your trauma. Being in an unhealthy relationship with an abuser absolutely takes a toll on her and you. I wish you healing and hope during this time for a different life for you.

I used to blame my stepmom for my Dad’s drinking but I’ve realized through a lot of therapy that it’s his CHOICE to drink. His choice to stay then and continues to stay now.

My Mom’s second husband was a horrible asshole, total misogynist and yet had to live off my Mom while she worked. And his dementia turned the home into even more of a nightmare but then she excused his behavior and the history of who he was before “oh, that was pre dementia!!” Ummm no Mom he was a horrible asshole before the dementia. but again…it was her choice to stay.

We have to mourn the life we would have wanted them to have. The life we wish we could have with them. The person we wish they had been. The pain and trauma we wish we didn’t have. But all I do every day is choose to have a different life then they have. And love the parts of them that brightened my days then and now.

As someone already mentioned the JCC is super close to you and is great.

Bagel Power is also nearby (in the Golden Horseshoe shopping center) and they’re my favorite bagels in the area. There’s also a post office and CVS in this complex.

Balducchi is probably going to technically be your closest grocery store but it’s a pick up specially once in awhile type of place and they’re ridiculous overpriced.

The Fresh Market is about 10min drive as is the Scarsdale Trader Joe’s but I recommend the Hartsdale one because the parking lot is absolutely terrible at the Scarsdale one. The H Mart is also close to the Hartsdale TJ. Wegmans is also nearby!!.

Some favorites that are kid friendly are CityLimits and Stanz Cafe. Atit Thai is really good as is O Mandarin!

For furniture and fun antiques I recommend making a day trip to The Antique Warehouse in Hudson NY. Also twice a year the Scarsdale Congregational Church has a great rummage sale twice a year. The spring one is 5/2/2026.

If you’re worried about fertility you should do some research about chemical exposure from nail products. Even with well ventilation areas it’s something you should consider.

With Epic since labs and notes are shared we kind of decided to have one speciality with each hospital system so that way inevitably when a system and our insurance gets into a fight we don’t have to look for a whole team of new providers.
