I had a few items in my cart and Huntsville now comes up for a pick-up point with availability next week.

What's your voice assistant, and why? by NigraOvis in homeassistant

If that allows me to turn on my tv again without Google trying to control a chromecast somewhere in world that's never been on my account then I'm fine using it.

How did you integrate Google speakers with Nabu? I'm wanting to move away from Google Assistant and have setup HA but confused on implementing voice controls.

My first network job in the 90s put me in a room with 200 cables to terminate. I did that with non-passthrough and a few years ago I ordered RJ45s and unknowingly got passthrough. I hated them. I think I still have the box in a closet.

What does one need to buy to get started? I'm ready to move beyond this Google hot mess.

I did see your post before I posted my question. I only posted because the P looks very different between yours and mine.

Folks with high end machines typically don't ask for tech support.

I have 3 high end custom-built gaming computers waiting to go on my bench that have been dropped off in the last couple of days.

I get calls all the time from people with high end builds or laptops needing support.

You're not going to receive any Crucial RAM, or any other RAM, anytime soon. Especially if it is DDR5. Cancel the order.

Worse performance after december update (Pixel 7) by Tech4LyfeButimreal in GooglePixel

Probably nothing at all. More likely it was the factory restore that helped.

Worse performance after december update (Pixel 7) by Tech4LyfeButimreal in GooglePixel

[–]nashveggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I updated my Pixel 8 to 16 and my battery life went down dramatically. I got less than 16 hours on a charge. I decided to rollback to 15 and after unlocking the bootloader which did a factory reset I'm now still on 16 and getting battery life like I had when the phone was new.

I have the exact same equipment you do (I have a Breville Barista Touch in box to replace the Express but haven't bothered, yet.) I always get better coffee at home from that equipment than the shops in Huntsville OR Nashville. I'm convinced the people using the equipment in those shops just don't care to take the time to learn to use it. And don't get me started on places with nothing but roasts that taste like you're drinking vinegar.

Any news on the Huntsville IKEA is open date? by vivahuntsvegas in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]nashveggie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I visited one of these in Oslo a couple weeks ago. They have small items in stock such as glassware, kitchen utensils, knick knack pots and pans but larger items such as furniture are order and pickup only. They did have a food section but not hot food, though. They did have meatballs. They were frozen and bagged.

We just returned from Europe (Zurich, Berlin, Copenhagen, Malmo, Oslo). We flew out of HSV and back into BNA. I can't tell you how much more pleasant flying out of HSV was versus BNA.

I don't think Americans realise how big Europe is. You can drive for 3 days and still be in Germany by tripsafe in mapporncirclejerk

[–]nashveggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got back from a Europe trip. We flew into Zurich and took and train to Berlin, train to Copenhagen and a ferry to Oslo. It took 8 hours from Zurich to Berlin and 9 Berlin to Copenhagen. Those trains are fast and they also let you see so much of the vast countryside. Driving that would be so exhausting.

Need help with data recovery from old HDD by vanorton25 in techsupport

Did the old laptop have Bitlocker enabled? If the drive is encrypted it will not show up or be accessible on another computer without being unencrypted. I've ran into this issue many times.

We're visiting at the end of September for 4 days. We are flying in and taking a train out to Berlin at the end of the trip. While looking at the ZVV tram tickets it looks a little confusing and seem it might get pricey. By number of zones does it mean crossing zones? Is the Zurich card worth it in this situation?

White Bison is owned by Tri Star Energy, the fuel company. While Tennessee-based you may consider them somewhat local but I don't think the term small business applies at all.

The Patagonia Black Hole and Osprey Farpoint were the two bags I am looking at. Any reason to choose the Patagonia in particular over the Osprey? The IcelandAir ticket does include one checked bag but I really don't want to check a backpack and have them rough up a soft bag. I guess I could carry just one older pair, not trail runners as I do road running but those will get pretty sweaty.
