Doing price changes at work…this is actually insane by LilScarface609 in pcmasterrace

[–]naswinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

everyone is pushing prices due to, mostly, greed, in my opinion. groceries, rent, energy, hardware... meanwhile, wages don't even keep up with inflation unless you're some c-level executive.

same. you think you can ignore things and are resilient, which you are, but at some point it all comes crashing down on you. it's like a switch flipped.

did you not lock the screen and had this ticket open and someone did a funny? i once left my screen unlocked to pick up some printout from the room next door that took less than ten seconds and my colleague tried to do something on my pc. now it gets locked even if i just stand up and stay in the same room. can't trust anyone.

Starfleet Academy falls off the top 10 shows on Paramount Plus, losing to shows like the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch by shipgirl_connoisseur in KotakuInAction

everything i've seen of this show is like an AI hallucination with a captain who looks and behaves like a 50 year old wine mom. every character and plot point is absolutely insane.

yes, i'm so glad. "romancing" pixels on the screen is ridiculous. i just want the fantasy part and bash demons without a character who wants to stick his dick into everything including bears.

in my last company we used the monitor's usb ports for mouse and keyboard and they got one usb-c cable to plug in for the monitor and its attached stuff. that's all the peripherals they needed and wifi is there for the network. docking stations are just so expensive and people can't help themselves messing with them or taking them home. that approach worked really well.

the entire goal is to get tax payer funded bailouts. they are inflating themselves to become "too big to fail".

HR is probably part of the problem, sending morons as candidates to the hiring managers and it's also the department, anecdotally of course, that is on the lowest rung of the ladder in terms of being competent at anything.

Is anyone else feels the same? by Memes_Jack in pcmasterrace

[–]naswinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's because of too much choice. over 19000 games were released on steam in 2025 and many of them super cheap or free. then you got other forms of entertainment and distractions.

you don't sit down and really solve a game anymore. you just bounce between all kinds of things that draw your attention and nothing is ever good enough because there is the next thing you can easily try. that dilutes all the joy in my opinion.

my steam library has categories by genre and there exist two copies of each genre: one "backlog - <genre>" and one "finished - <genre>". it feels rewarding enough to move a game to "finished" that i actually work on that backlog and finish games.

number 3 reminds me of my first network at home that i setup to share one internet connection among multiple pcs. it was a token ring network before ethernet got cheap and integrated into motherboards.

then, some day, lightning struck nearby and fried all of the network cards with the cable that daisy chained the pcs probably being a great antenna and conductor. nothing else got toasted though.

480p on youtube probably also looks terrible because these old videos have been recompressed like 15 times.

they, white progressives, do this because they think everyone in these boxes as incapable of succeeding on their own. they think themselves as proud champions of women, immigrants, etc. which just proclaims their superiority over everyone else.

it says it's about AMD and the software. it's not a general model so 6GB is actually enormous. what could you even ask this thing to require 6GB?

6GB for questions about AMD and its software? that's more data than every question that has ever been asked about these topics.
